On May 8, Professor Marion Grau gave the address at the Graduate Theological Union's annual commencement.
"In many ways, the academy, theological and religious education are at a crossroads. When at a crossroads, the next step to take can become unclear and fraught with risks, for persons and institutions. Yet: Whether or not the forces that devalue higher education recognize the value of our common work or not, should not foreclose our passion for knowledge, for the sacred, and for knowing each other."

In Memoriam: Professor James Jones
The Rev. James Jones, former director of field education and professor of homiletics at CDSP, died on April 26.
Professor Donn Morgan writes, "Leaving a successful business career to prepare for ordained ministry, Jim graduated from CDSP in 1964. After a few years of parish ministry he returned to the seminary to start up a new field education program in 1972. In the 1980's he became professor of homiletics, a position he held until his retirement in 1991. Among other contributions Jim made to CDSP, he served as vice dean and was instrumental in getting CDSP to use Spanish in occasional worship. The school gave him the Doctor of Divinity degree, honoris causa, after his retirement."
