Buckets o' Hops!

Summit Land Conservancy's Hops Hunters Program concluded on August 27th with an extremely successful harvest! Volunteers gathered in the wee hours of the morning to collect wild hops from the viable populations growing on the Empire Canyon Silver King and Prospect Ridge properties protected by the Conservancy. After the harvest, our enthusiastic volunteers reconvened on the back loading dock of Wasatch Brew Pub, and spent hours trimming hops cones from piles of bines (yes, they are called bines, it is not a typo) collected throughout the morning. In the end, a total of 42.5 pounds of wild hops were harvested and readied for the brewing process. Our special edition open space beer will be "unveiled" to the public at a celebratory party held at Wasatch Brew Pub on the night of October 23rd - it is sure to be a fun evening for everyone! We will need volunteers around the beginning of October to help hang posters and get the word out about this exciting event, so stay tuned!

SPECIAL THANKS

Thank you to all the volunteers who came
out and made our Hops Harvest a success!

Moon Shine Party

A big, bright, beautiful full moon rose over the horizon at Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter on Tuesday, September 9th to wrap up a perfect evening for our Moon Shine Party fundraiser. The event, along with your support, helped generate over $4,500, allowing Summit Land Conservancy to continue saving land in Summit County. Guests had the opportunity to bid on unique valuable items offered in the silent auction (while snacking on tasty Pop Art popcorn), and many went home with a variety of prizes from our opportunity drawings! Red Rock Brewery provided some craft beers with bold flavors, while Park City Wine Club offered an exquisite array of red and white wines for tasting. A few of our amazing volunteers prepared delectable grassfed organic sliders with goods provided by Canyon Meadows Ranch, Heber Valley Artisan Cheese, Copper Moose Farm, and Whole Foods Market on the back deck of the EcoCenter. Meanwhile people reveled in the melodic bluegrass tunes performed by Lash LaRue while enjoying the local fare. This event was rewarding to all on many different levels, and we hope to repeat it again next year! We want to send out a BIG THANK YOU to all our volunteers who came and helped make the event run smoothly, our business donors, and our sponsors: Summit Sotheby's International Realty and Newpark Town Center. We couldn't have done it without you!
Do you know Boot Guy?

On September 1st, Summit Land Conservancy staff marched in the Miner's Day Parade with the Park City Community Foundation to advocate for Live PC Give PC coming up on November 7th. Boot Guy made a special appearance, and he hopes to get Park City citizens jazzed on giving. Keep your eyes open for Boot Guy around town and on our social media, he has some great things to say!
