Where: Meet at the top of Daly Avenue at the gate on the dirt

portion of the road.

Why: Summit Land Conservancy is collaborating with Wasatch Brewery to brew a special edition beer to benefit open space.

INSIDE SCOOP: As a special thank you for your help, we will "REVEAL" the name of our special edition open space beer to our harvest volunteers!

Left to right: Hops Hunters hike leader Heleena Sideris and Summit Land Conservancy board members Allison Willingham and Nicole MacLaren.
After a great summer of hunting for wild hops on land protected by Summit Land Conservancy, our hops are finally ready for harvest!

After the harvest, we will bring the hops to Wasatch Brew Pub to sift out the hops cones so the brewers can start their magic the very same day. Once the brew is ready for tasting, Wasatch Brewery will host an event to unveil our open space beer. Sales will benefit Summit Land Conservancy so we can keep doing what we do best: SAVING LAND!

Things to Keep in Mind for the Harvest
  • Hops plants host micro burrs, which can cause some discomfort when harvesting the hops cones. To avoid the burrs, wear long pants and long sleeves when harvesting.
  • If you have a pair of gardening gloves, bring them as well.
  • Depending on how many volunteers we can rally, the harvest and cone separation will take between 3 and 6 hours total. Donate the time you can and we will fill in the rest! If you would like help out later in the day, please call Heleena Sideris at 435-640-6992 to make arrangements.

For questions or more information regarding the Hops Hunters Program, e-mail Heleena Sideris, the hike leader. For more detailed directions on the day of the harvest you may reach Heleena at 435-640-6992.

Hope to see you at the harvest!
