Suzuki Violin Students Are Learning and Growing

Our young violinists have been very active of late. Dr. Zirkle's Suzuki students had their final INFORMance of the year on May 8 during their class time.

Eleven of the terrific second grade violin students are part of the Duke Ellington Saturday String Program. They will be in the program through June. The participants are: Evelyn Anderson, Sakina Allen, Manniyah Boyd, Janiyah Britt, De'Adrian Davis, Saniya Flowerss, Robert Hofmann, Mekhi Parker, Isaiah Tate, Santana Womack, and Doenya Williams.

Dr. Zirkle says, "Please join me in an excited cheer as our WEDJ students are taking their learning of the violin to the next level. Congratulations students, I'm so proud of them!"
WEDJ School Nurse Offers Tips for Allergy Season

While symptoms of allergies and colds often overlap, there are a few telling differences. The tip-offs for hay fever are a clear, watery nasal discharge; itching of the eyes, ears, nose, or mouth; and spasmodic sneezing.

With a cold, nasal secretions are often thicker than in allergy and can be discolored (as compared with the clear, watery discharge of allergies). The child who has a cold may have a sore throat and a cough, and may run a temperature. A cold usually goes away after  few days, but allergy symptoms can go on for weeks to months.

About three in four children with asthma have an increase in symptoms during allergy season. For those children, testing can help identify allergens that cause a reaction in your child.
