IFTS News:

During the POLLUTEC Horizons show IFTS will be revealing its newly redesigned BOOTEST.

The BOOTEST is a piece of equipment that tests the quality of sludge from water once treated with a polymer.

The test equipment, which is now smaller in size, can be carried on-board an airplane and used everywhere in the field.

The test equipment has been designed, qualified and validated to be acceptable for the purpose of the international standard prEN 15742 related to the chemical conditioning of the sludges.

IFTS Presents Liquid Filtration Testing Basics Short Course at AFS Fall Conference

The American Filtration & Separations Society's (AFS) annual Fall Conference was held in Cincinnati, Ohio from October 14-16th. The conference was focused around the topic of 'Innovations in Filter Media and Membranes.'

Jerry Lynch, President of IFTS, Inc. USA, right, speaks with an attendee at the AFS Fall Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio.

President of IFTS, Inc. USA, Jerry Lynch, presented the half-day course which discussed liquid filtration testing and test methods.

The course covered filter test techniques and standards for water, fuel, lube oil, hydraulic fluids, and other industrial liquids. Particle characteristics and efficiency methods and ratings were also reviewed.

After taking the 4-hour course, attendees left with a better understanding of the principles and methods available to pre-qualify and optimize liquid filtration selection.

Over 140 participants attended the conference from 10 countries.

The 2014 AFS Spring Conference will be based on the subject of 'Oil & Gas and Chemical Processing' from March 24-26th in Houston, Texas.

IFTS Laboratory Acquires Pendant Drop Tensiometer

IFTS has a new measuring device: a pendant drop tensiometer, which measures the surface tension of liquids.

The tensiometer characterizes the behavior of fuel/water interfaces over a period of time during water separation efficiency tests performed according to the ISO 16332 standard.

The tensiometer's analysis software provides accurate and repeatable characterization of liquid/solid/gas interfaces.
