IFTS organizes Centrifugal Technical Session at AFS Conference and teaches Liquid Testing at INDA

IFTS, Inc. USA's President Gerard J. Lynch, P.E. was a speaker at the American Filtration & Separations Society's (AFS) Fall Conference and the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry's (INDA) Filtration International Conference & Exposition. Both conferences were held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

At the AFS Fall Conference, IFTS organized

Pascal Ginisty, Research Manager at IFTS in Agen, France presents at the AFS Fall Conference in Philadelphia, PA.
a 4-paper session titled "Centrifugal Separation Technology - Lab to Commercialization." One of the presenters was Pascal Ginisty of IFTS France who gave an overview of centrifugal separation test methods and techniques. Lynch presented a paper about an axial centrifuge testing program with the US Maritime Administration.

IFTS, Inc. USA also attended INDA's Conference, which
IFTS. Inc. USA's table at the AFS Fall Conference, which showcased the ISO 16332 Water Emulsion Device designed by IFTS.
Lynch presented a tutorial titled "Liquid Filter Testing Concepts and Techniques" to a 200+ audience at the Philadelphia Convention Center. The audience comprised of industrial filtration specialists, were introduced to a comprehensive

review of  liquid filtration testing methods and the standards and equipment used. The course also covered filter test standards for water, fuel, lube oil, hydraulic fluids, and particle characteristics and efficiency methods and ratings.

Pharmaceutical Success Story

 How do smart

pharmaceutical manufacturers

save tens of thousands of dollars per year

with minimal validation risk?

Pharmaceutical Grade Water is often fed from a centralized water treatment system. Typically "Nominal Rated" Low Micron Pre-filters are used to protect Reverse Osmosis, Ultra-Filtration and Micro-Filtration Membranes. Not all pleated and meltblown pre-filter cartridges perform the same. Since these filters are outside the formal validation process, testing allows smart manufacturers a way to better control their water system quality, increase up time and reduce operating costs.

The client contracted IFTS to compare their existing cartridge to 4 others having similar manufacturer ratings and claims. Five cartridges of each manufacturer were tested. Tests for micron efficiency, dirt holding capacity and flow verses Differential Pressure were conducted. Statistically significant results unveiled a certain DP point where the line pressure causes cartridge contamination unloading.

Keeping the DP below this point enhances membrane life and maintains a more stable system. In addition, one of the comparison cartridges was shown to be of higher quality at only 50% of the original cartridge cost. Savings were greater than $20,000.00 per year.

IFTS USES RIGOROUS TEST EQUIPMENT AND

VALIDATION PROCESSES RESULTING IN:

  • Stability of operating parameters
  • Real world settings in a test for a more reliable product for application

Maybe that's why NIST chose IFTS as its only supplier of SRM2806 test fluid for the calibration of Automatic Particle Counters. To learn more about IFTS' filter testing equipment and services, please visit:  IFTS brochures

IFTS has the following in stock for filter labs:
