Good Deed Brigade . . . Making A Difference |
The Ultimate Sacrifice and Your Good Deeds:
Memorial Day and Important Rs
The mission of the Good Deed Brigade is to promote the actions and kindness of people making a difference in the community. By completing this mission, the Good Deed Brigade hopes to encourage others to do their part to make the community a better place. Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States in which we, as Americans, remember those who died while serving the country in the armed forces. We are a free and democratic society that is protected day-to-day and minute-by-minute by our armed forces. It takes a brave, dedicated, and hard-working person to serve our country. It is a tragedy any time that one of our soldiers dies while serving in our military. Yes, it is the ultimate sacrifice when a soldier dies while serving in the military. How can we honor our fallen soldiers? What can we do on Memorial Day and all other days of the year to do our part - to do our share of good deeds? Remember On Memorial Day, take the time to remember and thank our soldiers and the family of our soldiers especially those who have suffered the loss of a loved one while serving our country. Respect Respect is not a word or an act that should be taken lightly. Respect our soldiers, families of our soldiers, and our military. Without our soldiers, we would not have the freedoms in this country that we so great enjoy. Reflect Now - right now - is time for you to make a difference. Reflect on what you can do at the moment and on a daily basis to make a difference in the community and beyond. Yes, you can make a difference. React When you see an opportunity help someone - a friend, neighbor, or stranger - do so with grace, humility, and care. There is always an opportunity to make a difference whether it is by a kind word or random act of kindness. Keep in mind that we all have the capacity in some way to act, react, and give. As noted by President Harry S. Truman, "Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices." Certainly, we should and can honor our fallen soldiers on Memorial Day and all other days of the year. One way to honor our soldiers and their families to keep the above Rs in mind and to do your best to go out there in the community and make a difference.
