The Spirit of Wonderful Residents Captured by Carly Gare:
San Marco Dogs
As so aptly said by photographer and writer Roger Caras, "Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole."  This sentiment is shared by many of the residents of San Marco, a neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida located south of downtown across from the St. Johns River.  Take a walk through many of the tree filled streets or through the town square and you will see dogs of all shapes, sizes, and breeds.

The frequent sightings of dogs in San Marco inspired Carly Gare, a 15 year old resident of Jacksonville, to capture the presence, spirit, and overall charm of these dogs in a book titled San Marco Dogs.  The book is filled with smiles and candid moments of San Marco's most lovable residents - the dogs.  It is a wonderful pictorial collage of the dogs who make San Marco the kind of place where people love to dine, visit, grab of cup of coffee, or just relax in the town square or one of the parks.

Carly Gare is a native of Jacksonville, Florida.  She enjoys gymnastics and photography.  It was only natural for Carly to share her love of Jacksonville and especially the San Marco area with others in the form of this book.  As noted by Carly on the matching bookmark that comes with the book, "I hope you enjoy San Marco Dogs. I am proud that all of the proceeds from the sale of the book are donated to St. Francis Animal Hospital in San Marco, Florida." If you would like to order a book, please contact Henry Gare at garelaw@gmail.com.

Carly's parents, Henry and Karen Gare, are very proud of their daughter and her endless spirit of kindness and giving.  Henry Gare, a local attorney, has an office  just a short walk to San Marco Square and the local Starbucks.  As noted by Henry, "The wonderful residents of San Marco, both human and canine, bring the sense of small town values and community to an otherwise large city."

The Good Deed Brigade salutes Carly Gare for her concerted acts of kindness and service.  Follow the example and lead of Carly Gare and perform your share of good deeds in the community.
