Being a full time public school teacher is not an easy job. This job requires a commitment to the children, school system, parents, and the community. Ana MacReynolds is no ordinary teacher or person for that matter. Ana spends her "regular working hours" as a school teacher in Jacksonville (Duval County) Florida. Beyond her "regular working hours", she spends countless hours as the executive director and founder of Ana's Angels Animal Rescue which is a non-profit organization based in North Florida. Ana is also a doting mother who somehow - someway manages to get all of this accomplished every day.
Ana is on-call at all times to be a defender of cats and dogs in shelters and in need of homes in North Florida. She works tirelessly to find foster families as well as permanent families for the loving animals that find their way into Ana's arms. Some arrive in great health and are easily adopted. Other dogs and cats need medical care and mending before being adopted or placed. While at her "regular" job as a school teacher, Ana is surrounded by children who she teaches and mentors about various subjects. While at her other job as one awesome pet rescuer, Ana is also surrounded by children who she teaches and mentors about compassion, responsibility, and kindess.
What makes Ana so special and talented? The easiest way to answer this question is to speak to Ana or meet her and see her in action. Whether at the Petco in South Jacksonville (Mandarin) or the Petsmart in West Jacksonville (Oakleaf Plantation), you will see Ana and her volunteers hard at work to make the lives of the dogs, cats, and people just that much better.
When Ana successfully completes an adoption to a good home, you will see Ana smile and have that certain shine in her eyes. You will need to look quickly for the smile and shine because she will soon move on to the next pet in need of a home or the next call with a pet emergency.
The Good Deed Brigade obtained a quote from two dogs rescued thanks to the efforts of Ana's Angels. In fact, these two special dogs reside at the home base of the Good Deed Brigade Brigade. Hershey and Godiva appear to be mostly Italian Greyhound breed and each dog weighs all of 11 pounds. According Godiva, the more vocal of the two, "Before Ana saved us, life was rough. Now that we found a good home, life is ruff ruff." Hershey simply stated, "Thank you Ana's Angels."
