Sweeter than Reggae Music and a Jamaican Breeze - Audley and Shelly Hewett

Greetings!

Jamaica is a tourist destination filled with local culture, great beaches, wonderful people, and yes, reggae music.   What could be sweeter than a day filled with reggae music and a Jamaican breeze? That is an easy question.   Just meet or read about Audley and Shelly Hewett and you will find out.

Audley and Shelly Hewett

The Hewetts have been married for almost 50 years, have raised 3 children, have many grandchildren, and have spent their lives devoted to children, community, and service.  Even in their 70s, the Hewetts are still very active in the South Florida community and in Jamaica.  With age, the Hewetts have only gotten wiser and have been able to devote more time to worthy causes and efforts like the Kingston College Old Boys Association, the Jamaican Track and Field Association, and many other organizations that focus on youth, family, and community development.

On October 5, there will be a grand party and event in South Florida called the Purple Session which is a fundraiser for Kingston College.   As a point of clarification, Kingston College is a public high school based in Kingston, Jamaica that has an enrollment of approximately 2,000 boys ranging in age from 11 to 18.  While public funds are provided to the school, the funds are not nearly enough to provide for the needs of the school and the students. As such, the Hewetts and many other dedicated individuals help raise funds and awareness through special events. The goal this year is to raise $50,000 through the Purple Session and other events to provide the needs of the school in Jamaica.

Audley is proud of the children who have graduated from Kingston College and other schools that he has worked with through the years.  As noted by Hewett:

I have been blessed with many things in life: a wonderful wife, three great and successful children, and more grandchildren than I could have ever imagined.  With hard work, I did well in the insurance business and then moved on to establish H & M Home Health Care. Fortunately, I had the time or made the time to put my talents and passion to work on behalf of others in need, especially school children in Jamaica.  I was taught and mentored at Kingston College which provided me with great foundation to succeed.  Using these life lessons, my wife and I are dedicated to education and youth development. We have seen generations of students graduate and go on to raise their own families, run their own companies or climb the corporate ladder, and most importantly have learned how to "give back".  As long as there is a child who is eager to learn, we plan on giving back.

The community service and kindness of people like Audley and Shelly Hewett make this world a better place.
