We "Can" Help.  These are three simple words that mean so much and do Make a Difference.  This Mission is one that many people can participate in by donating just a can of food.  Growing up in Miami, I participated in a number of can food drives through my school and local community centers. It was a great feeling to be part of a bigger effort to help feed a hungry person or family in need. When I was asked by Malea Guiriba to participate in the Pie in the Sky Need to Feed Food Drive through my law firm, I was happy to participate. 

In the month of September, the Good Deed Brigade and Wood, Atter & Wolf, P.A. will be partnering to serve as a drop off point for food items for Pie in the Sky, who will distribute the food to needy people in St. Johns County, Florida.  If you live in North Florida, please drop off your donations to either of my offices located in Downtown Jacksonville or Ponte Vedra Beach.  For those who live in N.W. St. Johns County (Julington Creek, Durbin Crossing, or off of County Road 210), I will pick up the can / food donations from your home or meet you for a pick up. 

If you live outside of North Florida, take a moment to donate food items locally to a worthy organization OR please visit the Pie in the Sky Website (See below) to make a donation in lieu of a can / food donation.

During your next trip to the grocery store whether it is Publix, Winn Dixie, Wal-Mart, Target or elsewhere, grab an extra item or more to donate to the We "Can" Help Mission.  

Here is a list of recommended or suggested items to donate for this cause:

Healthly low sodium soups;

Canned tuna, chicken, salmon;

Canned pinto or kidney beans;

Whole grain cereals, pastas, or crackers;

Pasta sauce;

Brown rice;

Dried beans, fruits, or nuts (low salt);

100 % fruit juice or preserves;

Low sodium vegetables;

Fruit and vegetable baby foods;

Shelf stable soy, rice, or almond milk;

Decaffineinated (herbal) teas;

Low sugar oatmeal or applesauce;

Low sodium chicken broth;

Peanut butter; and

Bottled water.
