Chris Dudley - A Father to Remember |
During June, the Foundation has much to celebrate with regards to our favorite dad and founder, Chris Dudley. We are excited to announce that this month not only is Chris is being honored for his extraordinary work on behalf of diabetes, but he is also being recognized for his legendary basketball achievements and collegiate scholastic success back East.
Father of the Year
In conjunction with four other noteworthy local fathers
working to advocate for those with diabetes, Chris Dudley is being recognized as a "Father of the Year" by the American Diabetes Association and the Father's Day Council. For the first time, the awards are being held here in Portland, Oregon. Consider attending the June 6 reception or dinner, held at the Hilton Portland, or make a donation in Chris Dudley's honor. Congratulations Chris!
New England Basketball Hall of Fame
On June 22, Chris Dudley is being inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in the Scholar-Athlete category. Celebrating the humble roots of basketball, invented by James Naismith at Springfield College in Massachusetts, New England continues the proud tradition of honoring players, coaches, and more who have ties to New England and who have left their historic mark on the sport.

Dudley, a three-time first team All-Ivy selection at Yale University, went on to play 16 seasons in the NBA. To this day at Yale, Dudley remains second all-time in rebounding (974) and blocked shots (172) and is ninth with 1,290 career points. He led the Yale Bulldogs in scoring and rebounding as both a junior and senior.
Dudley is also commended for his tremendous advocacy work on behalf of youth with diabetes. Besides his current work with the Foundation,
previously not only did he make the largest contribution by a professional athlete in the history of the "I Have A Dream" Foundation, but he also established a $100,000 endowment for the Yale Basketball Association.
We are so proud of Chris! Join all of us here at the Foundation in honoring and remembering him, and wishing Chris, and all CDF fathers, an extremely Happy Father's Day!
