Going into the hospital?

Due to privacy laws, churches are no longer routinely informed if you or a loved one is admitted to the hospital.  Please be sure you let us know when and where you will be a patient so we can be in touch with you and include you in our prayers and healing ministry. Don't assume the Vicar knows - he would much rather hear from several people than from no one!

Notes from the June Bishop's Committee meeting

The meeting, held at Christ Church, opened with a reflection by Sherry Kellett of Trinity on the previous week's retreat. She described how the "fruits of the Spirit" listed in the Epistle to the Galatians found expression in our Shared Ministry, and how, as we move forward, we can keep a positive outlook on God's plans for us.

The resignation of Craig Davis as Warden of Christ Church was formally accepted at this meeting. He had announced in early June his plans to resign due to new commitments in his life and business. An interim team was named to carry on this ministry through Annual Meeting: Lynda Swartz and Suzanne George will work alongside Patrice Wood of  Trinity and Fr. Chip as we transition to a more permanent successor.

The task force to carry forward the work of our recent retreat will hold its first meeting on Sunday, Aug. 7 at noon at Christ Church. Robert Bischoff and Sherry Kellett will represent the Trinity Bishop's Committee and will recruit two at large members of the congregation to assist them; Peter Monte and Gary Dozier have been named so far at Christ Church, and will recruit two additional members. Fr. Chip will serve initially as convener.

In the Christ Church breakout meeting, concern was expressed that efforts to clean up and reseed the grounds have been hampered by the lack of rain. We think we'll need to get some assistance with this, as it is a larger task than we can handle as volunteers. It was also agreed that we will seek at least two bids for some form of security for the Rectory, as a break-in attempt in June has left Fr. Chip and Cindy concerned for their safety and security. The May financial statement was largely positive, with income on-target in all areas but loose plate receipts and expenses at normal levels. While there is a deficit, it is consistent with the level of previous years.

The Trinity Church breakout meeting dealt with several property issues, including the shed roof and a recently-discovered chipmunk incursion. Plans for follow-up with the Village Preschool over its continued rent arrearage were discussed. Were they not behind, the church budget would be balanced; as it is, there is a $2,300 deficit. Outreach plans discussed included efforts to assist End 68 Hours of Hunger and a companion program that concentrates on high school students at Winnacunnet. This group is looking for donations of travel-size toiletries to distribute.

In other business:
  • The bylaw review team has neared the end of its work, and will have final drafts to present to the August Bishop's Committee meeting.
  • Fresh ideas for fundraising were discussed, including a Thanksgiving pie sale, participation in a "scrip" program where the church would receive charitable rebates through common purchases from local stores, restaurants and service providers.
  • Plans for summer events were reviewed, including cookouts at both churches and the upcoming Cold Spring Harbor concert at Trinity. As no one has come forward to coordinate it, plans for an outing to see the N.H. Fisher Cats play in Manchester have been scrapped.
  • Fr. Chip will be on vacation from July 12-24. Fr. David Plank will cover the July 17 services; Fr. Bill Gannon will celebrate on July 24.

Minutes will be posted as they become available. There will be no July meeting. The August meeting will be on the 16th at 7 p.m. at Trinity Church

Our Shared Ministry Cycle of Prayer

Each week, in both of our churches, we pray for one ministry we share and one or two households in each church. About once every six weeks, we will instead using the Shared Ministry Collect we prayed throughout the opening months of our Shared Ministry.

In our prayers the next two weeks, we give God thanks for...

Outdoor Eucharist and cookout at Trinity
Sunday, July 31 at 11 a.m.

On Sunday, July 31, Trinity Church will host an outdoor Eucharist and cookout (members of both churches welcome). The service will be at 11:00 a.m. in the shaded courtyard beside the church. The cookout will follow on the lawn. Bring your lawn chair and a side dish or dessert to share. Hot dogs, hamburgers and beverages will be provided. Please RSVP indicating how many from your household are coming to trinity55ad@gmail.com. This will help our food and set-up crews in their planning. Oh, and as for a rain date...we won't need one. It never rains on our cookouts! (If, ahem, it does, we'll come inside.)

For those of you who cannot (or prefer not) to come to the outdoor service, there will be a brief celebration of the Holy Eucharist at Trinity Church at the usual 8:45; Morning Prayer will be offered in the Christ Church chapel at 10:30.

Fr. Chip's vacation plans

Fr. Chip will be away from July 12-24. The Rev. David Plank will cover the services on July 17; the Rev. Bill Gannon will be here on July 24. While Fr. Chip is away, neighboring clergy will be covering emergencies, and our Shared Ministry office will be the contact point.
