At Trinity Church, it is an integral part of the Saturday evening liturgy the third weekend of the month. The next healing liturgy at Trinity Church will be on Saturday, Aug. 16th

From the Vicar...
Praying for healing - an important ministry we share
One of the really gratifying responses we received to our Time and Talent survey was Fran Plank's, in which she expressed interest in expanding on and getting more folks involved in our ministry of healing.
In over 30 years of ordained ministry I've found, as I'm sure Fran has as a clergy spouse, that a great deal of pastoral care is given indirectly. What do I mean by that? Simply this: that for every person I might visit in the hospital or at home, I often have multiple conversations with others who need a different sort of support: the caregivers, family members, friends, and other parishioners who are concerned about someone they love and feel a sense of helplessness and loss as they try to provide meaningful support.
There is one question that comes up often, in one form or another. Put most simply it is this: What's the best way to pray for this person I care for and love? We all want to pray for a cure, of course, but there are times when that doesn't feel like enough or when a cure may not be possible.
Praying for healing is not necessarily the same as praying for a cure. In Scripture, to heal is to make whole, to make complete that which has been broken. Healing is focused on body, spirit and soul. God heals in many ways, sometimes in ways that we are not able to see and are beyond our understanding. Yes, this can be a miraculous and unexplainable cure. But healing can also be discovering the strength that enables someone to live with a chronic disease or the peace of death when one is welcomed into the loving and eternal embrace of God.
Whatever form our future healing ministry might take, we have an effective opportunity to offer such prayer already. This Saturday evening at Trinity Church, we will offer a healing liturgy within the 5:00 p.m. Eucharist - as we do the third Saturday of each month. Another such opportunity will occur at the conclusion of our Eucharist at Christ Church on Sunday, Sept. 7, and is offered the first Sunday of the month in that congregation. In both settings we are called to pray beyond the barriers to healing, and seek God's guidance and grace to enable us to live with "wholeness, health and peace." Perhaps you will find this time of prayer helpful, not only for those you love but also for yourself. Come and experience Jesus' "stream of healing love" as you pray for yourself or for others.
Fr. Chip
A note from Lynda
Just a reminder...There will be no School at Christ Church on August 17th, but will resume the following week.
Our Shared Ministry Cycle of Prayer
Each week, in both of our churches, we pray for one ministry we share and one or two households in each church. About once every six weeks, we will instead
using the Shared Ministry Collect we prayed throughout the opening months of our Shared Ministry.
In our prayers the next two weeks, we give God thanks for..

Outdoor Eucharist and Picnic - this Sunday, Aug. 17

This Sunday, Aug. 17, Trinity Church will host our final Outdoor Eucharist and Picnic for 2014 - 11:00 a.m. on the side lawn. For those who cannot attend, there will be 8:45 and 10:30 said services at Trinity and Christ Church respectively. Christ Church will welcome the Rev. Mary Adebonojo, a retired priest of the Diocese of Pennsylvania, as Celebrant and Preacher. While we may do up a few of our leftover hamburgers and hotdogs from last time, our "main course" this time will be subs. We'll need some help with set-up and food preparation - and a hand from everybody putting things away afterwards. Bring your lawn chair and a side dish, salad or dessert and join the festivities!
Back-to-School supply drive
The Hampton Community Coalition (HCC) is now collecting back to school supplies for children in need in Hampton's K-8 schools. This is the 14th year that it is being held in Hobbs House. Donations may be left in the "School Supplies" box in the Narthex at Trinity, or Nita will gladly accept them at her office, from 9-2, Monday-Friday. Thank you for your unswerving support of Hampton's vulnerable citizens.
Safe Church Training
Safe Church training now consists of two parts: a two-hour online course and a three-hour class.
Free online training using the curriculum "Safeguarding Our Children" is now available for use by congregations in this diocese. Each congregation has been assigned their safe church minister who can provide trainees with a unique ID and password they will need to access the program. Because the program uses video clips, broadband Internet access is essential. Completion of online training is required in order to attend the follow up in person 3 hour training session.
Refresher Training is required every 3 years. Anyone in need of refresher training will take the new Initial Safe Church Training.
The next three-hour class will be held from 8:30am - noon Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Christ Church, Exeter. If you would like to attend the Exeter class to fulfill your Safe Church training, please contact your Safe Church minister:

Daily Meditation
The Rt. Rev. Steven Charleston August 14, 2014
Light the light of your heart and let it burn ever so brightly in these shadowed days. Your witness, our witness, the witness of all faithful people is needed now more than ever. Like candles coming alive in a dark corner, we need to shine forth hope and strength for a world bent by fear and bullied by war. Together we must believe that the simple goodness of common humanity is more powerful than the rants of angry minds. Let us now stand together, holding our lights of peace as high as we can, holding out the healing hand of shared love, singing the freedom of a new generation into life. Light the light of your heart and turn the night to day.
