From the Vicar...
Notes from the May Bishop's Committee meeting
After an opening prayer by Jean Wadman focusing on compassionate response to the recent Oklahoma tornadoes, the Bishop's Committee received financial reports for our two congregations showing a narrowing budget deficit - but still some financial hurdles ahead.
Fr. Chip updated the committee on our spring Time and Talent drive. Results have been slow coming in, and it was suggested that the forms be resent, as some do not recall having received them.
The committee unanimously endorsed our joint participation in the Seacoast Convocation's "Come and See" evangelism campaign this coming fall - whether or not all six congregations choose to participate. Gordon Lane of Trinity and Gary Dozier of Christ Church agreed to serve on the coordinating team, and we will seek at least one additional person from each congregation to work with them.
A schedule for summer services and events was reviewed (see separate article below). Fr. Chip also shared with the group his vacation schedule: July 28-Aug. 11.
The focus of the meeting was a report back from Bishop's Committee members who attended the School for Vestries in early May. Patrice Wood went to a "Wardens Only" session and learned how much she doesn't know. Gary Dozier concurred with Patrice that the School for Vestries should be required for Bishop's Committee members. Gordon Lane was in the group led by Bishop Hirschfeld. Lynda Swartz's group was led by Canon Hannah Anderson. She said as soon as they heard she's from Christ Church, Portsmouth, the rest of the group was filled with questions for her about how we are doing Shared Ministry.
In other business:
- Gary Dozier updated the group on the upcoming pictorial directory. Photography is tentatively scheduled for June/July with make-up dates in Sept.
- Patrice Wood updated us on the electrical work in Hobbs House. Donations have raised most of the $1,500 cost and we are hopeful of raising the rest.
- The Covenant Working Group report (summarized in the May 16 ENews) was accepted.
- A proposal to move our web hosting to a less-expensive vendor was accepted. Trinity's web site will migrate to that vendor in late June/early July. Christ Church's site will make its move this fall.
- The purchase of music books for the Trinity Church choir was approved. Funds will come from a memorial donation.
Full minutes, along with financial statements, will be posted in each church. The June meeting will be held at Christ Church on Tuesday, June 18.
Faithfully,
Fr. Chip

Do you have storage space available?
Gary Dozier, a member of Christ Church who lives in Hampton, needs to find space about the equivalent of a double-bay garage (or less) to store some personal possessions that cannot fit into his apartment storage unit. He is willing to pay a rental fee, and assures us the items in storage are NOT "yard sale junk."
If you have space you are willing to rent to Gary, please contact him by phone at 603-929-7222 or by email at g.dozier@comcast.net. Time is of the essence as he needs to relocate it quickly.
