Nevada Residents with ASD, and Parents: Please Add Your Voice to 5-Year Plan by Completing the Enclosed Survey
 

The Nevada Commission on Autism Spectrum Disorders is developing a Five-Year Strategic Action Plan to address autism in the State of Nevada and we need to hear from Self-Advocates and Parent Advocates.

 

Please take a few minutes and complete the consumer survey available now.  It must be submitted no later than September 18, 2014.  Who should complete the survey?

  1. Nevada residents with Autism. Complete one for yourselves (Parents, you can assist your son or daughter if they are unable to complete it themselves, but please fill it out as they would in their own voice.  You should fill out a survey for yourself separately.)
  2. Parents/Family of Nevada resident with Autism. Complete one for each parent or family member responsible for a Nevada resident with Autism.
  3. Caregiver of Nevada resident with Autism.
  4. Advocate for Nevada resident(s) with Autism.

The Commission is providing several ways to take the survey:

Areas to be addressed in the Five-Year Strategic Plan include, but are not limited to: diagnosis, early intervention, education, transition, housing, employment, insurance, funding, advocacy, and sexuality.

  • Early Childhood Subcommittee - Aug. 27
  • Youth & Transition Subcommittee - Sept. 9
  • Adults & Aging Subcommittee - Sept. 5 @ noon
  • Rural Subcommittee -  Aug. 28
Els for Autism Conference, Oct. 11 at Aria Las Vegas to Feature Thorkil Sonne
 
If you are a self advocate, parent advocate, or someone interested in advances in employment, choice, self determination, and new programs for Nevada residents with autism, you need to attend the 3rd Annual Els for Autism Conference, Saturday, Oct. 11th from noon-4pm at Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

2014 Fundraising Goal Within Reach Thanks to Two Generous Donations
 
LTO Ventures moved significantly closer to achieving our 2014 fundraising goal through the receipt of our two largest-ever donations.

Empowered Products, Inc. of Las Vegas, a personal care and wellness products company, committed $30,000 to our general funding goal, payable over six quarters.

Titan Brands of Las Vegas, a developer of nightlife and restaurant concepts, donated $3,200 to sponsor LTO Ventures in the Vegas, Inc. magazine annual Giving Guide which will be available Sept. 8th.

How You Can Help Us

We are an early-stage company with an innovative model in a rapidly-growing market.  We are always looking for people, money and ideas in the areas below.  Call or email me if you think you can and want to help, or you have someone you want to refer/recommend.
  • Funding - We are presently raising our $50,000 "Groundwork" round to fund LTO Ventures operations and model development.  (visit the DONATE page of our website for details on how you can contribute).
  • Board Members - Visit the Careers section of our website for details on the characteristics of the people we would like to consider joining our board.
  • Advisory Board Members - We are looking for professionals in finance, tax credits, legal, planned community development, and fundraising to be part of a structured advisory board.
