Corporate Sustainability Practices
and Human Rights
Fall 2014

This course addresses human rights issues related to global operations of multinational corporations across different industry sectors. The class examines corporations as members of the international legal system and the regulatory landscape that governs business and human rights conduct on a global scale. Students will study corporate sustainability practices as a function of corporate citizenship, risk management and competitive advantage. The course uses case studies to provide a portfolio of tools to ensure corporate compliance with human rights standards, including judicial remedies, reporting, self-regulation, multi-stakeholder collaborations, impact assessments, as well as 'inclusive' business strategies.
