UPDATE FROM THE PRESIDENT'S OFFICE
Dr. Dene Thomas

As 2014 draws to a close, I want to take this opportunity to thank those of you who support Fort Lewis College. We could not do what we do for our students without our alumni and friends. It is difficult to adequately express the positive impact you make...

UPDATE FROM ALUMNI RELATIONS
Dave Kerns

Your alma mater has done a great job of balancing growth and maintaining tradition. Our school is growing in both student numbers and within our most popular majors. Throughout our history, the numbers of student majors vary in specific academic programs. This year, Business, Biology, and Exercise Science have the largest number of majors, while our newer Engineering and Public Health departments are seeing unprecedented growth...

Benefactors' Brunch 2014 Highlights

The Office of Advancement held its annual Benefactors' Brunch on November 8th. The Brunch is an opportunity for scholarship donors to meet and mingle with the recipients of those scholarships, and for students to say thank you!

This year's Brunch included presentations from Physics/Engineering student Cassandra Seaney, and School of Business students Nicole Hamann & Shane Saginak. We also enjoyed performances by students and guest artists from the Departments of Theatre and Music. Much more was seen and done than we can show you in a few minutes, but thanks to Scholarship Manager Sandy Jameson's hard work, a rousing good time was had by all.

Scholarships are a very important part of the Office of Advancement's mission. If you would like to speak to someone about setting up a named scholarship, or contribute to a current one, please contact Sandy Jameson or call her directly at 970.247.7121.

What sets the plot of the 2013 hit film "Gravity" in motion is space debris hurtling around in orbit, tearing apart a space shuttle and stranding George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. It's a catastrophe that's not as far fetched as one might think, at least the part about renegade space junk turning a shuttle or satellite into, well, more space junk...

From KDUR to NPR, alumnus Eric Whitney is still in our ears

For 40 years, KDUR radio has been helping students have fun sharing their voices over the air, while also training them as broadcasting professionals. And Eric Whitney is a testament to how far that sense of fun and the KDUR experience can take you.

As the news director for Montana Public Radio, Whitney's award-winning reporting has been featured on National Public Radio's "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered." He has also done three reporting excursions to Africa, including living in Cape Town for a year...
