Join us for a look at sculpture on the Fort Lewis Campus- specifically student work that was done for an art competition in the Reed Library. Professor Dougan also speaks about the reason for the program and how he instructs his students to think about public artwork!

Bernice Bowra, Class of '46
 

Bernice Bowra is an alumni of the the Old Fort Lewis Ag College at Hesperus before the school moved up to the Rim in 1957. In this fascinating interview, she shares her memories of life and learning "in the tulies!"

 

Bernice is also one of the "Hesperus Girls +1" featured in this month's story, below.

Hesperus Girls +1 
A New Scholarship Courtesy of Old Friends
 

In 1944, a group of four young girls started their college careers at the Old Fort Lewis Campus located in Hesperus, Colorado. 68 years later, those girls, plus one other, were still good friends, and chose to celebrate their relationship by founding a scholarship intended to help High School students from Durango and Aztec attend the college.   

Theirs is a story of love, respect, and learning.

Pamela Hasterok

Foundation Executive Director Margie Deane Gray interviews Pamela Hasterok, a new arrival to Durango and longtime political reporter. Pamela has become invaluable to the Foundation as a donor and fundraiser, all while establishing a readership as a columnist for the Herald's food section.
