If your Scouts didn't get a chance to attend the inaugural DeSTEMber event last year, we have good news!  DeSTEMber at Camp Friedlander was so much fun that we decided to do it again.  Registration opens on Wednesday, November 4th for the 2nd DeSTEMber event on Saturday, December 12th.
While the National Jamboree itself may seem like it's a little ways off, the registration is not.  Now is the time for registration and it's open!  You have to see this Dan Beard Council Contingent video to see everything the Jamboree has to offer.  See the video here or check out the details at www.danbeard.org/Jamboree
The Cub Camp Program Preview is January 21st, and is the official kick-off to the Cub Scout Camping Program.  Come learn about many of the camping programs available to your Scouts this coming year, including Summer Camp, Cuboree, Spook-O-Ree, and more.
There are a very limited number left and when they're gone, their gone.  No more will ever be produced.  Proceeds to benefit the Robert C. Griffin Summer Camp Staff Scholarship Fund - which provides college scholarships to the young people who work at Camp Friedlander and Cub World.

On November 12 Scouts from our after school programs (mostly from Cincinnati Public Schools) earned their Bobcat Rank advancement. The Bobcat badges were pinned on upside down and when the Scout does a good turn that day the parents can turn it right side up. The parents and the scouts also got a blue stripe on their face to remind them to do their best on the Cub Scout Trail, and a yellow stripe to symbolize the bright spirit of Cub Scouting. Has your new Scout earned his Bobcat this fall?  If so, let's make sure he gets recognized this year.  Learn about the rank requirements, and get ideas, resources, ceremony resources and more at

This year, the Dan Beard Council Scout Shop is delighted to host the first ever Ethan Giving Tree. An Ethan Giving Tree, similar to an Angel Tree, will be set up at the Scout Shop with Ethan cards on it.
Do your boys love the Shooting Sports?  Just can't get enough of the Boom! Bang! and Twang! at the Ranges?  Come shoot with us!  Cub Packs can use the BB and Archery ranges on weekends, and Troops and Crews can also use the Rifle and Shotgun ranges!

OTHER HEADLINES
After two days devoted to getting deals, Giving Tuesday is a global day that's all about giving back. This new tradition of generosity is a nice antidote to the consumerism invading our holidays. Giving Tuesday also presents a great opportunity to help grow Scouting in your community.
The service project originally tentatively planned for April, 2016 will be delayed as we work with each district to gather feedback and plan a project that will be engaging for all Scouting units.
Please stay tunes as we work towards a council-wide service project targeted for the spring of 2017. More details will be shared in the 1st quarter of 2016.
