AAa/e salutes Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary (Rose Hills), a long time sponsor of AAa/e's Scholarship Fundraiser, for its commitment to use 100% percent recycled water on its sprawling grounds and decorative fountains by the end of the year. Keeping the grass green in America's largest cemetery once required 293 million gallons of potable water a year, as much used in several cities. Kudos to Bruce Lazenby, Rose Hills' Executive Director of Business Development and AAa/e Foundation Board Member, who pushed for recycled water legislation, Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District who assisted Rose Hills in securing the funding and Metropolitan Water District for providing grant funding for this critical, water-saving project. This important project was highlighted in a news story on NPR last month.
