Accepting scholarship applications NOWStudent members, submit your applications by Friday, May 29, 2015!
Each year, the AAa/e Foundation offers scholarships to full time students who: 1) are student members of AAa/e; 2) are pursuing a career in the AEC industry; and 3) have demonstrated a measurable level of involvement/service to the Asian-Pacific Islander community. This year we will be offering awards in six categories:
- High School Students Scholarship
- Community College Students Scholarship
- Undergraduate Students Scholarship
- Post-Graduate Students Scholarship
- Student Loan Support Grant
- University Award (in recognition of higher education programs whose objectives align with the AAa/e Association and Foundation)
Past recipients include students from Cal Poly Pomona, USC, SCI-Arc, Woodbury University, and UCLA to name a few. At the 2014 Annual Awards Banquet, we recognized 6 students, a recent graduate, and a University program with a grand total of $24,500.

Higher Education luncheon a sellout
AAa/e learns about upcoming Caltech and LACCD projects
On Thursday, April 16, Cal Tech's Senior Director of Design & Construction Ken Hargreaves, and LACCD's Executive Director of Facilities Planning and Development James D. O'Reilly shared how the two higher education institutions are tackling their Capital Improvement Plans with delivery methods and funding mechanisms that are unique to each school. AAa/e members and guests got an exclusive look ahead at the upcoming projects at Caltech and the major projects at the various LACCD campuses throughout Los Angeles County. Students and grads learn to network
AAa/e mentors students and recent grads, 7 become new members!
On Friday, May 1, more than 25 AEC students and recent graduates got a jumpstart on their careers by learning to network with AAa/e board members and other professionals. Glumac in Downtown LA hosted an evening of structured professional development helped young attendees improve their networking skills through a "What's my Communication Style?" workshop, where participants delivered their own 30-second elevator pitch to professional members for constructive feedback. In addition, a number of AAa/e's own emerging professional members shared their recent experiences transitioning from graduation to the working world. AAa/e received tremendous positive feedback on this mentoring event, and, as a result, welcomes 7 new student members from four schools: Hongyang Gao from USC; Basil Goto from Cal Poly Pomona; Joselyn Kenmotsu from Cal Poly SLO; and Aiden Leong, Hyun Dong Kim, Xueling Yang, and Xueqi Bai from UCLA. Stay tuned for more professional development programs in 2015!
