Come see the world's best golfers compete for $6.7 million - Feb 18-22!

The AAa/e Foundation, in partnership with the PGA Tickets for Charity Program and Northern Trust, is proud to offer tickets for the upcoming Northern Trust Open, February 18-22, 2015, at the historic Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades. Saturday's admission also includes a free live concert from rock group OAR. For each ticket you purchase, the PGA will donate 80% of the net proceeds to the Foundation to help fund future scholarships. The remaining 20% will be donated to the City of Hope. Record-Breaking Scholarships Awarded in 2014!
Nine receive a total of $24,500 from AAa/e Foundation

Last year, the AAa/e Foundation awarded a total of $24,500 in scholarships.  We wanted to once again congratulate the following 2014 recipients:

  1. Jonathan Lim, civil engineering student, UCLA - $5,000 scholarship
  2. Erica Im, architecture student, Woodbury University - $2,500 scholarship
  3. Leh Shyu, architecture student, Cal Poly Pomona - $2,500 scholarship
  4. Van Buu Tran, civil engineering graduate student, Cal Poly Pomona - $2,500 scholarship
  5. Diego Wu-Law, architecture graduate student, SCI-ARC - $2,500 scholarship
  6. Howin Noah Park, civil engineering graduate, UCLA - $2,500 student loan support grant
  7. Christopher Becerra, high school student, University High School - $500 scholarship
  8. Cal Poly Pomona Taiwan International Exchange Program (Accepted by Dr. Hofu Wu), $5,000 AAae Foundation Program Award

Caltrans SBC Update   
PSC Sets 2015 Goals in San Diego

On Thursday, January 15, The Caltrans Small Business Council Professional Services Committee convened at the District 11 offices in San Diego. AAa/e Board Member Eric Halm, who was elected 2015 Committee Vice Chair, helped lead the strategic planning session that set the following goals to increase SBE/DBE/DVBE participation:

  • Goal #1: Modify the AE selection process
  • Goal #2: Improve accountability and transparency of SBE/DBE/DVBE utilization
  • Goal #3: Encourage potential policy change, develop strategies, and promote education/awareness

 

During the Statewide SBC Meeting on Friday, January 16, Caltrans' Chief Deputy Director announced that the 2015-16 budget is $10.5 billion, which is a $500 million decrease from 2014-15. Between October 2013 and September 2014, DBEs captured 28 AE contracts totaling $26.7 million. AE contracts awarded to DVBEs amounted to $9.03 million.
