CHSR Project - BAC Rep Update

Public Policy & Government Affairs Committee Chair Linden Nishinaga reports the latest on California High Speed Rail

The California High Speed Rail Project continues to move forward.  This unprecedented, much needed multi-billion dollar public project will provide significant opportunities for AEC professionals including small, minority, women, disabled veteran, and disadvantaged business enterprises.  The first 29-mile segment, CP-1, civil engineering design-build contract between Madera and Fresno is underway.   It is reported that actual construction may begin July 2014.

For the second civil design-build CP-2/3 package, a 60-mile segment between Fresno and the Tulare-Kern County Line, the Authority received SOQs from five international firm teams.  The most highly qualified teams will be  requested to submit formal design-build proposals.  Similar to CP-1, the final selected contractor for CP-2/3 will perform the design and construction of the demolition and clearance of R/W, grading, drainage, subsurface investigation, geotechnical engineering and seismology, bridges, culverts, trenches and tunnels, utility relocations, aerial structures, grade separations, etc.  For much of the Central Valley, the Authority is also tendering for construction management and Right-of-Way engineering and surveying services contracts.

For 2014 the Authority has scheduled a full slate of six Statewide Business Advisory Council meetings.  Stay tuned....

Congratulations!
