Dear Friends,
I am excited that our Food Truck Hub legislation is being implemented! Food Truck Hubs have been approved at Town Center Market in Riverdale Park and at Watkins Regional Park. I expect a third hub located in downtown College Park at the former site of the Little Tavern to be approved within the next few days.
Our hubs are looking for trucks to vend! Address and contact information for these hubs, details for how to apply for a new hub, and information for trucks looking to vend at a hub can be found here.
Please remember that ALL food trucks vending in Prince George's County are now required to go through the new licensing process, even trucks vending at fairs, festivals, one-day events, etc. This includes food trucks at events on private property. Learn more here.
It was a pleasure to work with the Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce's Green Committee to pass legislation defining and implementing a tax credit for Green Businesses. Now Prince George's County businesses who are certified by Green America's Green Business Certification, or other green business certification approved by the Prince George's County Department of Environment. I am confident this legislation will encourage current County businesses to go green and that we will also attract new green businesses to the County.
As you may know, I am the proud parent of two Prince George's County Public School students. I am so pleased to join with my colleagues on the Prince George's County Council and PGCPS Board of Education to host three "Choose Public Schools Workshops" to share and discuss the academic, financial and social benefits of attending public schools.
The South County workshop will take place on May 24 at Oxon Hill HS; the Central County Workshop will take place on May 25 at Largo HS, and the North County workshop will take place on Tuesday, May 31 at 6:30pm at Northwestern HS. Please share this invitation with your friends and neighbors.
M-NCPPC Department of Parks & Recreation is building more trails! The Trails Master Plan for Prince George's County will plan at +500 trail system for residents and visitors to enjoy. Help us create the best trail system for
Prince George's County by engaging in a discussion about the preliminary recommendations in the Draft Trails Master Plan. Wednesday, May 25, 2016, 6:00-8:00pm at Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex. Download the plan and share comments online here.
Another important conversation taking place in Prince George's County as we work to rewrite our County zoning code. This is a multi-year process and resident input is critical to its success. Please plan to attend an upcoming session to meet with the consultants and learn the second module, which will address neighborhood compatibility standards, transportation adequacy, pedestrian and bicycle connectivity, and sustainable and green development standards. The first of three public meetings will take place on Tuesday, June 7 at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex, from 7:00-9:00pm.
