April 13, 2016
I rarely send emails back-to-back like this but want to share three important items with you today.
First, I am extremely proud that the Prince George's County Council unanimously approved Council Bill 3-2016 banning hydraulic fracturing
, more commonly known as fracking, in Prince George's County. We are the first jurisdiction in the state of Maryland to impose a combined countywide ban on fracking and the transport of fracking waste. Read more here.
Second, next Tuesday, April 19, the County Council is hosting an Education Town Hall meeting. Please join us or watch via Live Stream
. It promises to be a dynamic event.
Third, please mark your calendar now and plan to attend my 2nd Annual District 3 Town Hall and Resource Fair on Wednesday, April 20, from 6:30pm-8:30pm at William Wirt Middle School.
Numerous County agencies, utility providers, and more will host tables from 6:30-7:00pm so you can gather information and ask questions. My staff has already confirmed the new PGCPS Ombudsman, Prince George's County Police Department, Department of Public Works and Transportation, Family Services, Office of the State's Attorney, and more.
Together Strengthening our Community,
P.S. I just learned that the 3rd Annual Taste of TNI scheduled for Sunday, April 17, has been cancelled.
