Puppets, The Universal Teacher

While puppets are widely considered to be entertainment, more and more educators are utilizing puppets in the classroom.

Puppetry is an excellent way for students of all ages and abilities to develop important learning skills as well as strengthening their creativity and imagination.  They are given the confidence to express their ideas and feelings especially if they are shy about interacting, growing their communication through puppet play.  When they make up the roles, the rules and the situations, they are developing social skills. When they are storytelling, they are building their vocabulary and comprehension skills.

"Wow! Fabulous! Lots of great ideas for the classroom that are practical and yet full of adventure!" (Teacher)

Linking puppet experiences with curriculum has long been a feature of WP Puppet Theatre's professional development. Their programs, workshops, residencies and performances help audiences of all ages and abilities discover the world through imagination. The practical workshops connect with core subjects and allow teachers immediate and easy implementation. The hands-on creation and performance opportunities support even more learning areas such as reading, to name a few.

Since 1991, WP Puppet Theatre artists and educators have touched many hearts and imaginations.
