GRAND Openings
Grand opening planned April 30 for Rotary Signature Playground

FARMERS BRANCH ~ The new, all-inclusive playground, made possible by a joint effort of area Rotary Clubs, is now open at Gussie Field Watterworth Park near Farmers Branch City Hall.
The Farmers Branch and Carrollton-Farmers Branch Rotary Clubs joined forces to create the special playground where all kids can play together, regardless of abilities or limitations.
Together with public and private donations, the new playground was constructed by City of Farmers Branch Parks crews on the site of an older playground in the park on the banks of Rawhide Creek.
A formal opening celebration, complete with ribbon-cutting, is planned for Saturday, April 30 at 11 a.m. weather permitting. Call 972.919.2620 for information.

Historical Park advances to Round Two of Museum Dance Off competition

FARMERS BRANCH ~ The international museum dance off competition continues to Round Two for the Farmers Branch Historical Park who will be pitted against the Henry Ford Museum of Dearborn, Michigan with their Marvin Gaye tribute on Tuesday, May 3.
Anyone wanting to help the Historical Park video make it to Round Three should do so by voting at whenyouworkatamuseum.com on May 3 - 4.
Round One was a neck-and-neck competition with over 8,500 votes being cast in a 24 hour period. During the course of the voting, the Historical Park and First Division Museum at Cantigny from Wheaton, Illinois battled for top position. While the Illinois museum's "These Boots are Made for Walking" video made it a real contest, the Historical Park managed to pull in more than 50 percent of the total vote for the win.
The Historical Park staff is thrilled with their progress so far. By making it to Round Two, they are already in the upper quartile of competitors. Approximately 1,000 people have viewed the video and had a chance to see exactly what kind of fun awaits visitors next time they visit Farmers Branch and the Historical Park.
If the Historical Park wins Round Two, Round Three voting is scheduled for Friday, May 6.
