Public Safety training ongoing at City-owned building
FARMERS BRANCH ~ The obsolete, City-owned building, just north of Fire Station No. 1, at 13605 Webb Chapel, will be the site of continuing Public Safety training exercises through Saturday, March 26, in advance of demolition next week.
Neighbors and others in the area should not be alarmed by the appearance of heavy Farmers Branch Police or Fire Department presence or activity at that location.
The building is slated for demolition the week of March 28.
A developer had proposed a senior living project on the adjacent property, but has decided to seek an alternate location for that project. The City will continue to work with developers on the prospect of placing single-family homes on the tract.

Residents should be alert for phone scams
FARMERS BRANCH ~ As local elderly residents are noticing an increase in the number of unsolicited sales calls during daytime hours, Farmers Branch Police officials urge all residents to be wary and not to give financial or credit card information over the phone.
"Some calls may come from legitimate businesses," explained Police Chief Sid Fuller. "But, in order to be sure, it is a good idea to never do business over the phone, especially when someone asks for banking or credit card numbers."
Chief Fuller said the stories can sometimes be very convincing, preying on compassion for military families or law enforcement.
"If anyone ever has a concern about a call like that, they should give us a call and let us look into it," he concluded.
The Farmers Branch Police Department can be reached at 972.484.3620.
