Memo from the MANAGER

Viewpoints

Although it is a little chilly out today, by and large, our days are slowly becoming more mild than cold - a sure sign that Spring is on the way.

As the frost of February moves on towards the madness of March and we all emerge from our indoor habitations, be sure to take a drive around town to see some of the wonderful developments that have taken place during the winter months.

Gary 2013

Spring's bringing exciting changes to Farmers Branch.

First, take a drive down Luna Road, south from LBJ. There's not a whole lot of Farmers Branch down there, but there are dramatic changes happening in our territory. First, in the far, southwestern corner of the City - at Luna and Royal Lane, a wonderful new multi-family development, called Waters Edge, is ready for its first tenants. Eventually boasting 600 units in 22 three-story buildings, the development encompasses 40 acres along the shores of Colinas Crossing Lake.

Water's Edge is an $84 million investment in Farmers Branch.

Back up Luna towards LBJ is the Provident development, which is coming along quickly with its 20 three-story buildings that will house 513 one and two-bedroom apartments.

But, whatever you do, don't miss driving down Valley View Lane, from Josey to the area near the DART station.

First, at the area some call the Four Corners, the beautiful facade renovations on the southwest corner of Josey and Valley View have been joined by a spectacular facade makeover on the retail building just north of the Walmart Neighborhood Market.

Then, in a dramatic change of view, the recent demolition of a number of buildings along Valley View, from around William Dodson Parkway to the DART railroad tracks (as depicted in today's banner), has revealed a wonderful vista of our station area. Now, the complete area ready for development around the Mustang Station building can be fully appreciated.

   Take a look and see.

It's just the beginning of great things to come.

Important REMINDER
Council moves meeting to March 3

FARMERS BRANCH ~ As City Hall is a polling place for the March 4 election primaries, the Farmers Branch City Council has opted to move up their regularly scheduled meeting 24 hours from that date to Monday, March 3.

However, with polling going on in the lobby until 7 p.m., members of the Council felt it best to move the meeting in order to avoid confusion with the balloting process.
