Memo from the MANAGER
Giving thanks
Memo from the Manager
Let's just face it, November is a great month. We get to honor veterans on the 11th, the weather turns to fall temperatures and many wonderful people were born this month (shout out to our twin daughters, Haley and Caley, who turned 26 on the 14th).
But the great thing about November is Thanksgiving! The family, the football, the food. What could be better?
Actually what is best about Thanksgiving is that it reminds us to get off the spinning wheel known as life and really think about what we are thankful for. I believe this exercise is food for the soul and really important for everyone's well being. It is especially important for someone who has my job.
So, what am I thankful for as a City Manager of the City of Farmers Branch? I am very thankful for the encouragement and support we have received from the community. Cozy and I feel that the incredible support in the five and a half years we have been in Farmers Branch is like no other place we have lived. We are so appreciative of the many people who have been there for us in the good times and bad. It is so wonderful to experience the kind words of support we often experience at the grocery store or when someone "bends your ear" at the Fourth of July celebration. I have a file in my office where I put all of the supportive correspondence I receive. My file has runneth over at this point.
So, please let me humbly thank you, the citizens of Farmers Branch for your support and understanding. It is so easy for me to serve such a fine City with such outstanding citizens.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday including family, football and food. But, don't forget to take time to think about what you're thankful for. It will do you good.
Just writing this article has lifted my spirits!
  Happy Thanksgiving!
