It is the mission of Waukesha Public Library to provide a welcoming and dynamic environment where citizens of all ages can find the inspiration, ideas, and information to achieve their full potential.

@ YOUR LIBRARY

Do you know Poe?

Waukesha Reads - The Big Read community-wide reading program will celebrate Great Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe with a full calendar of events from September 26 - November 7. Programming based on Poe's work includes a live stage Poe performance, a haunted house at Catholic Memorial, StorySlam events and workshops by Ex Fabula, film, music, theater, art, discussions and more. The calendar of events is available online, or at Waukesha Public Library and most Waukesha Reads partner locations.

Free copies of Poe's work in both English and Spanish and copies of the children's companion title, The Tell-Tale Start by Gordon McAlpine, will be available at the Library beginning September 2, while supplies last. Books and program information also will be available at Waukesha's Friday Night Live, September 26 from 6:30-9:00 p.m. and at the Waukesha Farmers' Market, Saturday, September 27 from 8:00 a.m.-Noon.

The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts, designed to revitalize the role of reading in American culture by exposing citizens to great works of literature and encouraging them to read for pleasure
and enrichment. Waukesha Public Library is one of 77 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive a grant to host a Big Read project this year.

Public Art Request for Proposals

The Library's  Public Art Committee is celebrating 10 years! To celebrate, the Committee seeks to build the collection through the acquisition of one or more additional works of art. The Waukesha Public Library is requesting proposals from artists interested in designing and implementing a specific work of art for this facility. Selected artists will work with the members of the Library's Public Art Committee and Executive Director to develop and implement their design.
