Waukesha Public Library is one of 77 nonprofit organizations to receive a grant to host a Big Read project in Waukesha. The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts, designed to revitalize the role of literature in American culture and to encourage citizens to read for pleasure and enlightenment. The Big Read in Waukesha will focus on Into the Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urrea. Activities will take place September 27- November 3.

Gibson Guitar Bus at the Library!
We are excited to announce that the Gibson Guitar Tour Bus will be at the Library on Tuesday, June 4, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. This traveling museum will be open for tours and is staffed by an expert of all things Gibson and Les Paul-related.This stop is part of the 2013 Waukesha GuitarTown celebration.
Master Gardeners at the Library!
As part of our "Groundbreaking" Adult Summer Reading Program,  local Master Gardeners Dave Wolken and Jeff Trader will share their expertise at the Library the last two Thursday evenings in June. Topics will include small space vegetable gardening and flower bed design. Click here for the schedule and more information.
Author Visit
 Make sure to mark your calendars for author Ilsa J. Bick's visit on July 18! She will be signing books after her visit, and attending teens may have their names placed in a raffle to win some of her books! Pick up a free copy of Ms. Bick's book Draw the Dark at the Reference desk in June (while supplies last), and drop by the Teen Book Club on June 25 for discussion.

the grade children will be entering in the fall.

The Library offers summer reading programs for all ages! Registration begins Saturday, June 8.
Dig Into Reading for ChildrenOpen to children birth through those finishing 6th grade. Read to yourself or have someone read aloud. Complete the reading challenges and spin the wheel to receive a surprise!
This year we are excited to offer a reading program for children under the age of 3. At registration, parents will be given a list of early literacy activities to enjoy with their child. Families completing the activities will receive a free board book.
Beneath the Surface for Teens All you have to do is read in order to be eligible to win prizes all summer long. This year's grand prize will be a Kindle eReader and the winner will be announced at the End of Summer Lock-in on August 9. Check the teen Facebook page for updates and info!
Why should kids have all the fun? Designed especially for adults (ages 18+), this program gives you a chance to win great prizes for
books you've read and to get book recommendations from your fellow community readers.
