HOW IT WORKS

We will take the bags of shoes, the day before, and place them in numerical order from least to greatest in lines of 75-100 just after the wetsuit stripping area. As you run up on the mini shoe transition the smaller race numbers will be first so if you're one of the last numbers your shoes will be in one of the last rows. Keep in mind the Olympic race starts in the 800's.

Each shoe row will be marked by a big orange cone with a number range on it. Once you find your row simply look for your shoes in that row.

WE ARE NOT ASSIGNING AND LABELING A SPECIFIC SPOT FOR EACH ATHLETE. There is just not enough room and time to do that this year. They will be in ordered rows and put in order least to greatest based on the numbers on the bags. We will leave the shoes in the bags until race morning to keep them as dry as possible incase there's rain or humidity. Early that morning we will remove the bags.

RACE MORNING SHOE DROP OFF

Anyone that does not make it to the pre race shoe drop off times listed above may still drop off their shoes but must do so on their own. As listed on the site and in the athlete guide, swim exit is just over 1/2 mile from transition. If you want to drop your shoes off race morning you should do so as a warmup run over to swim exit, drop them off, then run back to transition, or simply give the shoes to a friend or family member to take over there for you. We will have a couple volunteers manning that area that can help those dropping off shoes.

DISCLAIMER AND ADVICE

DO NOT USE YOUR MAIN RUNNING SHOES AS YOUR SWIM EXIT SHOES. YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR MAIN RUNNING SHOES IN THE MAIN TRANSITION AREA AND YOUR OLD RUNNING SHOES IN THE SWIM EXIT TRANSITION AREA.

While this is a service we are offering, we are not garaunteeing you will be able to find your shoes in transition and although we will secure the area with barricade fencing we are not garanteeing the security of dropped off shoes.

Our advice is to drop off some shoes to run to transition in from the swim exit. Although we will be sweeping the pavement the entire way to transition we cannot garantee that the path will be 100% free of debris. A 1/2 mile barefoot run with soggy feet on hard dry pavement is a recipe for blisters. Any time you lose finding your shoes and putting them on will be quickly made up by a faster run and blister free racing later in the day.

Please consider dropping off some old running shoes.

Olympic Bib # Misprint
Please be aware that there was a misprint on the Olympic bib numbers used for the run portion of the event. Each Olympic bib is blue and the logo on top of the bib was meant to be be blue and say "Olympic," however it was printed as orange and says sprint. Please be assured this is purely cosmetic and has no effect on anything. If you are doing the Olympic distance and your bib is blue, you're fine, proceed as planned.

Water Bottle Substitution
As stated on the website, we decided against nylon drawstring shoulder bags. These bags rarely get used by the athletes. Instead, we decided to give away a reusable custom water bottle at the finish line. Although we know all of you have a ton of water bottles, everyone can always use another in the rotation. We hope you enjoy the substitution available to you at your finish line on Saturday or Sunday.
