Waypoint tip

Do you have too many waypoints? I bet most say yes.
If you have waypoints that you think are no good and you don't delete them because they "might" be important, we have to live with them since we can't remember the details on all waypoints, just the ones that are important.
Prevention is the key, after you fish a spot and before you drive away, delete the waypoints you don't want NOW. Just place the cursor on each one and delete them.
If you come back in a month you will never delete them and the chart screen gets cluttered.

Ross Robertson is a trolling expert and helped me with my Planer Board Trolling DVD. He has just released his trolling book which is a must have for trollers or "trolls' as I call them.

Sonar Tip

Fish size on your sonar is determined by 3 factors based on the transducer receiving sound reflected by the fish. Larger fish reflect more sound than smaller fish.
  1. Thick arches are bigger fish than thin arches since thickness indicates stronger returns.
  2. Color is determined by the strength of the returning sound to the transducer, bigger fish reflect more sound so bigger fish will have different colors. Yellow indicates the strongest return using the Lowrance white background palette (palette 1 in the HDS).
  3.  Longer tails on the fish arch are seen with bigger fish since the tails of the fish arch are the fish on the edge of the cone and a bigger fish will reflect more sound than a small fish when both are at the edge of the cone so bigger fish have longer tails on their "fish arch".
