Summertime Family Favorites

We all love a cook-out. You know what to expect: savory smells, the sound of sizzle and relaxation in the great outdoors. July is National Grilling Month, so let's gather up a collection of recipes sure to please the entire family!

Kabobs are always a hit with kids and adults alike. Try our Citrus-Marinated Beef and Fruit Kabobs or Beef Steak and Potato Kabobs for a hands-on meal. Tip: soak wooden skewers in water prior to cooking to prevent burning.

Burgers are a no-brainer when it comes to appeal. Around the World Mini Burgers are a great way to please multiple palates. The recipe comes with options for Mexican, Moroccan, Italian or Asian toppings. Have fun exploring new flavors with your family.

How to Save on Beef

We want to keep the grill sizzling all year long. So when you're looking for the best deals on beef, there are a few very simple tips to keep in mind. Our executive chef, Dave Zino, shares his easy ways to save here:

1. First, consider the price per serving and the value of nutrients. One pound of beef is about $4, which works out to be about $1 per serving for a family of four and provides great taste and 10 essential nutrients for your dollar.

2. Next, it's a great idea to look for family-size packs and bundles which are offered for a lower price per pound. For example, you can buy a larger package of Ground Beef, portion it out for tonight's meal and freeze the rest.

3. You can DIY and play butcher at home to save money as well.

  • For instance, you can pay a little more for the convenience of pre-formed burgers or you can buy your own package of Ground Beef and make your own patties to save a few dollars.
  • You can also buy one Top Sirloin Steak and cut it into items for multiple meals like stir-fry, kabobs and steak.
  • Consider buying larger cuts of beef and cutting them on your owe which will save you at least $1 to $2 per pound.

 4. Hunt for bargains or check out the store's website or social media pages, and then stock your freezer.

5. Ask for help - Your neighborhood butcher will recommend the most appropriate cuts and how to get the most for your money.
