It's the heart of the matter...

I want to urge you to take a quick second and slow down with what you are doing to think about a few things.

How is this summer going? Are you fulfilling your goals? Was it different than you expected? Can you believe it is half over? Are you succeeding?

These questions swirl around in my brain - so I assume that some of you may be asking them as well. Regardless of how you answer these questions lets take a look at what motivates you - lets look at the heart (Luke 16). It turns out that the question, "what drives/motivates you?" is a very common interview question. It's asked because it says a whole lot about the person. If they answer vague - they probably have vague ambitions - however if they answer with decisiveness and precision they may have very specific goal. So answer honestly and you may get a picture of where your heart is at.

I believe Jesus cares deeply not about the end results of how your summer went - or if you fulfilled all your goals - but where your heart was in these matters. Many of us can put on a show on living successful lives but when it comes to whether they love God or success more it may be difficult to discern. Take for instance the story of the rich young ruler found in Mark 10:17-27. He seemed to have everything together but when He was asked to give it all up and follow Jesus - He couldn't.

As the summer gets closer to the end
lets remember that in all our DOING...

Jesus cares deeply about our BEING. Lets make sure we are not motivated by what society deems is successful, or what others may think is proper - let's
be motivated by Jesus' love towards us. Lets be a people who care deeply about the heart of the matter.

Oasis

We wish to encourage you to pray for all the
sponsored children from Robertson School (over 30 of them) that will be attending Camp Kawkawa this summer. Speaking of Camp Kawkawa, it will be worth your time
and effort to travel there, to see all the changes that have taken place there this year. There are many new waterfront "toys" that are a challenge to the kids. Furthermore you want to see the "human Fussball" game in operation. Make it a day trip, and enjoy all the sights there..and don't overlook seeing the massive 900 yr. old tree on camp property. Meet faithful CAC workers Steve Pettersen, and Elmer Aichele, and all that they have been doing at & for the Camp. Enjoy a cup of coffee with Camp Director Wayne Stewart or assistant David Murphy. There's always the possibility of going fishing on Lake Kawkawa..making it a great day out in God's creation.

Oasis Service on Sunday Aug. 28th will feature Teen Challenge
with representatives of the men's ministry in Yarrow, and the women's ministry in Abbotsford. You don't want to miss the wonderful testimonies of God's grace and mercy to those rescued out the grasp of Satan. These remarkable testimonies are evidence of the Lord's love reaching into the darkest corners of our society. We will also feature music ministry by Glen Cuthbertson. Remember, you are supporting a local outreach ministry that has been so effective over the years in the "rescue the perishing...plead for the dying".

We look forward to our 5th annual Throness Evening in September..keep Sept. 25th open.Other great programs this fall will include the Royal Heirs & ICR, Place of Rescue with Marie Ens, not to mention the Ukraine Music Mission
with Wes Janzen in mid October.
