For one very short week, four of us from CAC were treated to the sights, sounds, tastes and people of Rimouski, and after this quick missions trip to "La Belle Province", it is easy to say that at a very minimum, Quebec is still truly beautiful!
In heading out on this trip, it was my desire that the Lord would show us something that we could take back to our context here in Chilliwack, and one lesson stands out among them all: size doesn't matter when talking about a church's effectiveness - it is the engagement of the people in the work of the Kingdom that counts! Quite frankly, Rimouski Alliance is a very small church. On a typical Sunday, 35 people will gather in a converted school gymnasium for worship, and while that number seems small, consider that a few short years ago, there were only 10! And yet, when even only 10, or 35, or 800+ people are engaged in their communities, doing purposeful kingdom work, the Lord can move in extraordinary ways! Think about the first day of Pentecost. That day, there were only a grand total of 120 followers of Jesus Christ, and yet, God used those committed people to start a movement that has forever changed the course of history.
Thinking back to our own history here at CAC, we see this reality repeated time and time again. When God's people align themselves with what God is doing, great things happen. How else could a small bible study group gathering in a family home progress to what we have today at CAC?
And so, today, my challenge to you is to simply ask yourself if you are willing to be engaged in what God is doing wherever you find yourself: at work, at home, in your neighbourhood, or in the church, because as we do, we can expect great things!
