June 2016 Newsletter

As I sit at my desk and reflect on our church, the breadth of knowledge, wisdom and experience we all collectively bring, it amazes me and excites me.

Our church staff bring a HUGE variety of gifts as do our elders board. I work with individual members of staff and elders and I am so encouraged to see such a gifted and dedicated group of people who are sold out for the "cause". They bring their individual love for Jesus Christ and their eagerness to share that love with you our church congregation and with everyone they interact with, using their unique giftedness.

My question to YOU today is this - are YOU using the gifts that God has given you wisely? Are you doing all you can to be a part of this church personally? Growing deep in God and led by His Holy Spirit, encouraging each other to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to our world. In our neighbourhoods, in our schools in our work places and places of influence?

To be an effective disciple of Jesus Christ we MUST use our gifts and we MUST love our neighbour. We do not need to "sell" the gospel to them, we need to live out the gospel though our actions, through who we are.

We talk about a need for a revival - we do - however I personally say that revival starts with YOU as a follower of Jesus Christ using your gifting on a daily basis, practically being the hands and feet of Jesus every day of your lives - SO THAT - the world will see Jesus Christ through and in you. When was the last time you prayed and asked Jesus to consume your heart and your life so that you could live it to the full for HIM? My prayer is that you do just that.

Have a wonderful June and I look forward to seeing many of you at our annual church family afternoon and BBQ at Camp Kawkawa for fun and fellowship on June 12th 2pm onwards.

I leave you with this scripture on gifts of grace to reflect on:

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Romans 12:1-6 ESV

Every blessing,
Pastor Mark

Oasis

The June 26th Oasis evening originally planned to feature the incredible Dalit Ministry with Sheri Bailey has been postponed till Spring 2017.

In its place we are featuring:
an evening with Don & Betty Orr on Sunday, June 19th
beginning with a potluck supper and then a presentation by Don & Betty on their Poland Ministry. If you wish to participate in the potluck supper, kindly be in touch with Rita Martin (604 792-8748). The Orrs will be giving both a verbal and a visual report on all the roles they fulfil in Poland, with special emphasis on "outreach". The Lord has been doing amazing things and you don't want to miss that report.  There is still the possibility that they will be part of the Prayer Week presentation, on Tues. June 21st - watch for further announcements. We trust everyone will want to do their part in encouraging our dear friends, Don & Betty...so don't miss out on these opportunities.

Matter of Scholarships- At Camp Kawkawa:

Oasis wishes to thank the many who contributed so liberally to the Robertson School Camp Scholarship Fund.  Through your generosity, we are able to send 18 Senior Campers (Gr. 5 & 6), from the school to Camp Kawkawa this summer.  We are also pleased to report, that some of our camp alumni, who began as Jr. campers, have taken up the camp summer work program, engaged in serving at camp for a week or two, doing many menial tasks (and loving it).

Aside from this, Vision Tree, under the direction of Wayne Massey, has been able to send 11 Jr. campers (Gr. 3 & 4) to camp this summer. In total close to $8000 have been donated to send these mostly non-churched children to our Christian camp. We trust that many of you were present May 29th, to hear the incredible reports of what is taking place at Camp Kawkawa, and how the Lord is blessing this ministry. Continue to pray for all the campers this summer, that this will be a time of "reaping a harvest of souls". Many youngsters are introduced to Jesus Christ for the very first time.

We can assure you that, through personal testimonials, the principal & some staff members of Robertson school are amazed and grateful for all that CAC does for our parish school. Thank you to everyone who prayed and contributed to this outreach ministry. Furthermore, we are truly grateful for the practical hands on work that is being done by volunteers Elmer Aichele, Cal Neetz, along with Fred & Jane Petterson.

UPCOMING OASIS EVENTS:
1. There will not be an Oasis Event in the month of July.
2. On August 28th we will be featuring TEEN CHALLENGE..both Abbotsford &      Yarrow teams.

Thank you to all of you who are so faithfully supporting the Ministry of Oasis.
