Dear Community Stakeholder,

The holiday season is in full swing and we want to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to all parents, early childhood education providers and advocates of quality early care and education initiatives.

Recently, we recognized 24 students who have received their Child Development Associates (CDA) credential through the Infant/Toddler CDA Coaching Program sponsored by the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation, a McCormick Foundation Fund, under the instruction of our talented staff. We are grateful for community partners like Orlando Magic who advocate the importance of strengthening educators for our community's youngest citizens and future workforce.

As we gather this holiday season, we must remember there is still more work to be done to ensure that ALL Orange County children have the same opportunities and resources to enter school ready to learn. This can only be made possible with your support.

On average there are more than 8,000 children from low-income families waiting for quality child care services and your support can help make a difference.

Sincerely,

Karen Willis, CEO, CWP
Early Learning Coalition of Orange County

Did you know from the time a child is born, there are only 2,000 days until they attend Kindergarten? Help us make sure that ALL Orange County children have access to quality early care and education. There isn't a single day to waste!

Early Investments = Big Dividends

(1) 2003 The Economic Impact of Child Care in Florida Report by the Florida Children's Forum

We contract with more than 625 local providers, infusing $4.5 million a month into our small business community. For every $1 invested in early care and education, school readiness and VPK, more than 86 cents is spent in our communities on personal living expenses and salaries.

The early care and education industry in Florida generates $3.87 billion in total revenue and provides parents information about child development and family well-being.

For every $1 spent, Nobel Peace Prize winning economist, Dr. James Heckman, places the return on investment at nearly $9 when the program's graduates complete their education and start contributing to our Nation's economy.

We'd like to take this opportunity to show our sincerest appreciation and gratitude to Scholastic Books for donating $1,300 of age-appropriate children's books to the Coalition. Their support will help us narrow the 30 million word gap for children in the Orange County community.

We would also like to thank BJ's Wholesale Club and Marriott Vacations Orlando for donating toys and books to help make holidays brighter for children in our provider network.
