January/2013

Dear Community Stakeholder,

We're already 15 days into the new  year and what a year it is shapng up to be.

The 3rd annual State of Early Care and Education is right around the corner; we've received a second grant from the OMYF to continue the CDA Infant Toddler Mentor Training program; and have you checked out the new website and social media presence?  That was done by a team of talented programmers from GiveCamp.Orlando.

Yes, 2013 looks like it's going to be a fantastic year!

 Sincerely,
Karen Willis

CLWCelebrate Literacy Week, Florida!

Mark your calendars and rev up your engines to Take the Lead and Read for Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! 2013 which is scheduled for the week of January 14-18, 2013.

Celebrate Literacy WeekThe goals of Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! are to promote literacy throughout the state by raising awareness of the great things happening in school districts and coalitions. Most of all, the objective is to promote the enjoyment of reading for children and adults of all ages.

A real race car has  gone to various early learning sites this month to gain momentum as  Celebrate Literacy Week speeds near. In December, more than 100 students were on-hand as the race car zoomed to Planet Learning and Little Angels Child Care and Learning Center. To take a look at those photos please click here.

GiveCampGiveCamp.Orlando

GiveCamp is a weekend-long event where technology professionals - including designers, developers and database administrators as well as marketers and web strategists donate their time and unique talents to provide software solutions for local charities and other non-profit organizations.GiveCamp.Orlando logo
Director Jay Hill said that we were selected because, "organizations that do provide direct assistance, like the Early Learning Coalition of Orange County, can often increase capacity or extend their reach with software tailored to their needs, and GiveCamp provides a venue where we can get skilled, motivated volunteers to focus on addressing those specific needs in a coordinated and directed way."

We were one of eight local non-profits selected.  Our new website has many different features and our social media platforms have been expanded as you can see by clicking the icons on the side panel.  Check out our new website by clicking here.
