helping GCIT to raise funds for our CTSO's.

 

 GCIT will receive $2 for every customer that signs up and $2 per month as long as they are a customer.

GCIT's Annual Open House

Come visit GCIT during our annual open house, Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 6:00-8:00pm.

 

This annual event provides an opportunity for parents, guardians, family members, and the community to visit program areas and classrooms. Visitors will be able to see student demonstrations and projects.

Power Announcement

In case of emergencies, GCIT uses a notification system called Power Announcement. Power Announcement allows GCIT to send messages using email, voice, and text messaging. 

 

Now parents can enter and maintain their own contact information and communication preferences through PowerSchool. View the Power Announcement Instructions.

 

It is important that all parents/guardians log into PowerSchool and add/update their emergency contact information through Power Announcement as soon as possible.

PowerSchool
PowerSchool is the online system you use to view your child's grades, report cards, progress reports, schedule, and attendance. If you misplaced your PowerSchool login or do not have Internet access, please call the guidance office at 856-468-1445 X 2103.
  
Class Pages
Many of our teachers utilize a class page to post homework assignments, handouts, class calendar, and more. You can create a parent account on our website and add your child's classes to your list. You will receive an email when teachers post assignments, including due dates.

Junior Ring Breakfast

A "Ring Breakfast" has been scheduled for October 4, 2013, for juniors to receive their class rings.

We are excited to announce that Gloucester County Institute of Technology now offers My School Bucks, a payment service over the Internet for school breakfast and lunch. 

  
MySchoolBucks.com offers a secure online payment portal that accepts VISA and Master Cards as a means of adding money to your child's meal account. Credit or debit cards can also be used. To get started, all you need is a computer, Internet access, and an email account.

The Admissions Department will hold three Parent/Student Information Sessions. We will open our doors for you to learn about our programs, meet our staff, and explore our state-of-the-art facilities.

GCIT, in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and School Based Youth Services, is sponsoring the fourth Southern New Jersey Suicide Prevention Walk.

The Cheetah Pit BBQ Fundraiser
November 15, 2013
Doors Open 5:30pm
Dinner Starts 6:30pm

The Cheetah Pit BBQ fundraising dinner will feature barbecue specialties from around the country with entertainment provided by GCIT students. 

 

Proceeds will benefit GCIT Career-Technical Student Organizations and School Based Youth Services endeavors.


Tickets are $25.00 per person.  Please pay by check only.

Robotics Team Book Drive
GCIT's Robotics Team is holding a book drive to benefit Success Won't Wait, a non-profit organization that promotes literacy, primarily in children. 
 
They will be collecting all types of books, with the exception of manuals and textbooks, through October 17, 2013. Collection boxes will be placed at the 400 and 600 reception areas and the 100 and 400 wing offices. If you require assistance with unloading books, please contact Mrs. Belding at 856-468-1445 x2232 or sbelding@gcecnj.org.

All are welcome to come cheer on the team as our robot shoots frisbees into goals and pulls itself up on a pyramid at the end of the game. Admission is free. This is a great opportunity to see what the Robotics team is all about. 
Sarah Mae Medalla Attends HOSA Leadership  Academy in DC

The Academy of Allied Health & Medical Science is proud to announce that senior student Sarah Mae Medalla was selected to attend a gathering of state HOSA leaders at the Washington Leadership Academy in Washington D.C. from September 21 through 24, 2013. Sarah Mae was the chosen New Jersey State HOSA Representative. She was elected last spring as the Regional Officer. 

 

Sarah Mae's agenda included leadership sessions, a tour of the Smithsonian's Museum of Natural History, a tour of the Capitol, Arlington National Cemetery and a visit to Congress. Congratulations to Sarah Mae and we are proud for her representation of GCIT during her visit.

School Based Youth Services

SBYS is a counseling agency set up in GCIT. Counselors are on staff to assist with any issue that someone might want to explore in the confidence of a trained professional.


Services are open to Gloucester County high school students.

Monday - Thursday 

8am - 7pm
Friday 
8am - 3pm

The Branch 
The Branch is a teen drop-in group held every Thursday at GCIT when school is in session. It is open to all Gloucester County high school teenagers. The group is for teens, facilitated by trained teen leaders with adult staff present.


Topics of discussion include communication skills, enhancing self-esteem, drug and alcohol education, stress reduction, and more. The group meets in the Media Center, 2nd floor, 200 wing. Sessions begin promptly at 3:30pm and end at 5:00pm. The first meeting of the 2013-2014 school year is scheduled for Thursday, September, 26, 2013.  For more information, please contact a SBYS counselor.

 

Red Ribbon Week and School Violence Awareness Week 
We will be celebrating RRW in October, 2013. Please continue to check the website for more information.
 
Bystander Intervention
SBYS will continue to train GCIT students in Bystander Intervention.  This valuable program encourages youth to intervene in situations where harm may be caused to another person, while keeping themselves safe.  Personal safety and suicide prevention will also be discussed during the presentation.
