HAPPY THURSDAY FLASHERS!
So today is our last April issue...rounding out our birthday / anniversary month. Over the last few weeks I have shared my FLASH story with you. It's been an incredible fun ride the last six years and we have come quite a long way! We started with 3 subscribers and this month crossed over 8,000, we print 10,000 monthly calendars, and (drum roll, please) DA-DA-DUM - we recently rolled out our FLASH app. Our staff is close and intimate...okay minuscule...It's mostly a family affair consisting of me, my Mom and my sister who delivers our 10,000 calendars each month. My two daughters in Atlanta also come up with ideas and tips and when we need more help, we bring in student interns. (Aren't today's kids amazing with their technology knowledge?!) With this team we are able to do it all, - the research, graphic design, sales, accounting, writing, customer relations, promotions, etc. We are one big happy family and you FLASHERS are a part of our FLASH Family Tree. Thanks for your loyalty, comments, support and well wishes! It means the world to me!
If I could ask one thing of you... PLEASE show 'the love' by sharing FLASH with your family and friends. If every single one of you who reads FLASH refers us to one friend...That's it...one friend... We could come close to doubling our numbers and I would LOVE THAT as would our advertisers. And...speaking of advertisers... please don't forget to tell our advertisers that you found them through FLASH! They will jump for joy knowing that their advertising dollars are working. Now back to sharing the FLASH... Please...move into action don't just read this and move on to the next feature...instead, click this link and forward our issue to at least one friend. We truly appreciate those who don't keep us a secret and we will enter you for a chance to win a weekend at our family beach house in a drawing. We have made great friends with FLASHERS who have won this in the past! So, share us with your family and friends. Just ask them to include your name as the referrer when prompted.
Thanks, FLASHERS!
Thank you~

Every May and September these pesky little black-and-red bugs make their uninvited way into our piece of paradise! They wreak havoc as they leave their little bodies super-glued to the front of our cars. If you find your car covered in bugs...First I suggest you head to Classic Car Wash! The friendly and competent staff will have your car looking like your old familiar friend in no time! Just make sure you get them off as quickly as possible because their remains can pit or mar car paint. To ward off these bugs in the first place people have been known to spray their bumbers with Pam pray ... Yep that stuff you use on your kitchen pans. But this can cause more of a problem than the bugs. Instead try these suggestions:
1) A coat of fresh wax or baby oil helps keep them from sticking to the front hood, grill
or bumper.
2) Rain-X on the windows makes for much cleaner glass, even when you don't have a
chance to wash, they leave much less mess.

I love taking something old and repurposing it! If you do too...Then this is a great one to try. I found it on Praktic Ideas. I love that this adds some extra storage with the bottom drawers! YES!! If you don't have an old dresser hangin' around, stop by one of our fabulous thrift stores! Personally I love the VNA and Habitat Restore. You can always find something there!

Update your software frequently. That means whenever you get those prompts to upgrade from the programs you know...do it, just make certain you know the source is legitimate. The scammers love to take advantage of the older software. WARNING: Don't update your software through an email. This type of update request is the most common way for your machine to download a virus! Be cautious and always check with the company before ever downloading whatever they are asking you to download.

Fat-Tire Wheelchairs Now available
At The Environmental Learning Center
Something new is rolling on the trails at the Environmental Learning Center: four all-terrain fat-tire wheelchairs that have opened up the 64-acre Indian River Lagoon Island campus to audiences who did not previously have access to its natural beauty. The wheelchairs were chosen for their ability to glide easily over the 1½ miles of boardwalks and most of the ELC's nature trails.
Purchased with funds generously donated during the Press Journal and TC Palms' "12 Days of Christmas Wish List" program, the wheelchairs are now ready for use and are free with paid admission ($5 for adults and children over age 12), on a first come/first serve basis.

 ETA AQUARIDS METEORSHOWER
Wednesday, May 4th
To best view a meteor shower, get away from the glow of city lights. After you've escaped the city glow, find a dark, secluded spot where oncoming car headlights will not frustrate you. Look for a state or city park or a beach to the north or south away from the lights of the city. Once you have settled at your observing spot, lie back or position yourself so the horizon appears at the edge of your peripheral vision, with the stars and sky filling your field of view. Meteors will instantly grab your attention as they streak by. Spread a blanket and even take a pillow to thoroughly enjoy your own personal showing of the Orionids Meteor Shower! Click Here for more info on Meteor showers.

The EL-DOEs from the Sebastian Elks Lodge distributed Easter baskets to families from Sebastian Elementary School. The EL-DOEs membership donated the money to purchase items for the baskets then Mrs. Trish Wesely did the shopping and assembled the baskets. Each of the baskets contained items for a true Easter dinner; a whole smoked ham, canned vegetables, cookies, butter, soda, nuts, brownie mix. Also included was an Easter basket for the children and an Easter card from the EL-DOEs.
This year Sue Fuchs, President of the EL-DOEs presented the baskets to Principal Letitia Whitfield Hart. Tony Adkins, Student Support Specialist at the Sebastian Elementary School assisted Ms. Hart in selecting the families to which the baskets will be given and makes the arrangements for the families to pick up the baskets.

Last week, VNA Home Health & Hospice hosted a caregiver conference for local caregivers and their families drawing over 200 local caregivers to the event, held at First Presbyterian Church in Vero Beach. As families and loved ones packed into McAfee Hall, the conference got underway with lunch provided by the VNA, a presentation by keynote speaker Donna Gray of The Conversation Project, and a panel of local experts from the Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of Indian River County, SHINE, Senior Resource Association, VNA and the Law Office Marie Conforti. Over the course of two hours, caregivers were able to bring their questions and concerns to panelists who provided answers and support to the audience.
This was the first conference of its kind hosted by the VNA, and the organization has plans to host more caregiver conferences and support events more frequently. For more information on caregiver support or VNA services, please visit www.vnatc.com, or call 772-567-5551.

The Environmental Learning Center's Board of Trustees thanked their volunteers for a record-breaking season of programs and trips with a lively party on Sunday, April 17. Showing their appreciation for the time and talents donated at the Indian River Lagoon island campus, board members "served" drinks and hors-d'oeuvres to the happy crowd. The Heart of Oak music group provided a toe tapping good time with live music. An additional highlight of the event was a captivating performance by the Gifford Youth Orchestra led by Dr. Crystal Bujol.
