Happy Thursday, FLASHERS!

One of the suggestions I received from a few FLASHERS is that FLASHERS want more reviews on restaurants and services and a heads up on what is new in town. I just gotta tell ya... I love your suggestions and this is one that I plan to incorporate immediately! So, here goes for the first 'Heads Up on What's New'. Stephanie Nelson, a local FLASHER, has launched a side business that I think is AWESOME. It's called The Knot Swap! Even if you aren't planning a wedding, I have little doubt that your head has spun at the publicized cost of a wedding these days. Oh my!... Enter Stephanie to the rescue! The Knot Swap brings together past and future brides in a fun and convenient way. Past brides rent space at the one day event to sell their once-used wedding decor to future brides who get to stock up at what is usually a fraction of the cost. This is the first event of its kind on the Treasure Coast, and the first bridal swap is scheduled for May 17th at the Club at Pointe West. If you'd like a table at the event Stephanie is offering a 20% discount to those who register by January 31st. (cost would only be $40 and you can split the table with a friend). I just love this swap concept...Don't you?  If so spread the word to all of the past and future brides you know. For more information visit www.theknotswap.com or call (772) 766-0232.

You will find several posts in this week's issue to help you 'score' a great Super Bowl party! Yep...The big game day is this Sunday at 6:30 on NBC.  That leaves you the daylight hours of the weekend to get out and enjoy the fun things going on.  Check out the calendar as well as the featured postings below. Remember to tell our advertisers that you saw them on FLASH! We owe them for enabling me to keep this a free publication! So...Tell them it's working and it's all because of FLASH that you found them ! :)

Plan A Fun Game Day        Prediction Pool

Here is a link that explains how to create a 'game day' bidding pool! It's lots of fun!

       Give it a try! :)

'SUPER' SODAS AND BEER

Arrange a do-it-yourself bar with an assortment of sodas and beer. Keep them iced in a cooler or for a more 'creative' container, think washtub or wheelbarrow or one of those rectangular wine coolers. Large plastic flower pots hold more ice than the standard ice buckets. Finally, if you have enough beer drinkers, a keg is always fun!

WHAT TO DO WITH THE KIDS DURING YOUR PARTY?

If you  have little ones and your guests are planning to bring a few more... needless to say they can be a distraction for the more serious game watchers. Here's the solution! First, hire a fun baby sitter, preferably a high school cheerleader in uniform. She can take the kids outside and teach them a few cheers,  play catch with a mini football or play other outdoor games. Indoors games are fun too. If you have a Wii game, that will certainly be a hit! (Ask some of the other parents to bring additional remotes with their names on them.) Have special snacks and inexpensive prizes available.

Is our nation on the brink of destruction? Was the 9/11 bombing of the Twin Towers the first "harbinger" of what's to come? Rabbi Jonathan Cahn thinks so, and his book, The Harbinger, describes how nine harbingers are currently being manifested in America.

Local resident Stanford Erickson, Vero Beach resident, author, journalist and frequent contributor to thePress Journal's Op-Ed page, will discuss the mystery of the nine harbingers at the book review breakfast. A harbinger is "a person or thing" announcing or signaling the imminent arrival of another - a sign, an omen, a portent. Before its destruction as a nation, ancient Israel received nine harbingers, nine prophetic omens of warning, which they did not heed. In The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery that Holds the Secret of America's Future, Rabbi Jonathan Cahn suggests that the same nine harbingers are now appearing in America. The key to decoding the harbingers is found in the seemingly innocuous words of Isaiah 9:10, what these words meant to ancient Israel, and how history seems to be repeating itself in America today.

While The Harbinger is a work of fiction, it leads readers to consider whether this ancient mystery may hold the secret to recent American events - such as 9/11 and the Great Recession - and whether these events could be prophetic warnings about what is yet to come. It makes its readers - by now in the millions - wonder whether our leaders and we ourselves have been listening, or whether our innate defiance in the face of catastrophe may be an unfortunate response.

LAST CHANCE FOR BOTH SHOWS!

PROTECT YOUR HOME FURNISHINGS

Solar Solutions, owned and operated by Brian Schauder, is a licensed and certified Vero Beach window tinting dealer. We often think of window tinting for only a car. Not so! Home window tinting can save you a bundle. The tinting film can be nearly transparent and will lower your electric bill, protect your furniture and your artwork. It will also stop the blinding glare from the sun in the mornings and afternoon. You have nothing to lose from getting a quote and more information. Please visit the website or call 772.633.6795.

TIPS FOR STORING SILVER

You probably have some sterling silver jewelry or even some silver or silver plated flatware or serving pieces. To neutralize tarnish-causing sulfur gases inside enclosed storage or display areas, here are some anti-tarnish storage tips. First, make sure your silver is dry before you store it, then store silver in anti-tarnish bags or cloth, or line the drawers in a large piece of furniture with anti-tarnish cloth or tissue paper. Do not use ordinary felt.  Plastic zip bags will also deter tarnish. You can put mothballs or white chalk in a glass or ceramic cup, then put the cup where silver is stored or displayed. Use paper anti-tarnish strips in drawers or cabinets with glass doors to keep silver bright. Store silver jewelry the same way. Many types of anti-tarnish items are available at grocery and jewelry stores.

COMPUTER VIRUS WARNING

Beware the "Trovi" virus. "Trovi Search" is a browser hijacker which is promoted by other free downloads. Once installed it will change your browser homepage to http://trovi.com and default search engine to Trovi Search. This happened to my Mom recently. She was offered a free download called "Search protect" that she mistakenly thought was a windows program to protect her search engine. Once installed, her computer began to run slowly and the screen constantly jumped around, then she noticed that above the search line, it read Trovi instead of Google.  She didn't know what had happened but found a free website that explained and instructed how to correct the problem. She said the on-screen instructions were easy to follow and Trovi was gone when she finished. The site is called Malware Tips and apparently can be helpful with many computer problems. You may want to view the Malware website and save it among your favorites for future use. Click here.

  TODAY'S CHUCKLE

After the preacher finished an emotional sermon about the hereafter, he asked the congregation, "Will all those who want to go to heaven, please stand?" Everyone in the church stood except for one man in the back who remained seated. Addressing him, the preacher asked, "Sir, don't you want to go to heaven."

"Of course," he replied, "but I thought you meant now!"

Cleanse Right Not Wrong: Lose the Bar Soap!

It's important to understand your personal skin condition and choose products that fit accordingly. This is particularly true when it comes to cleansers. Lots of people think any old cleanser will do, as long as you get your face clean, right? Wrong. Choosing the right cleanser, one that does not cause damage to your skin tissue and compromise its pH balance (hello bar soap) is essential to your daily care routine. We have many to choose from for your skin type. Get a complimentary consult to see what is best for you!
