HAPPY THURDSDAY, FLASHERS!

Make your connections here!

Are you aware of the connections you can make through FLASH? We have such an amazing free resource available to each and every FLASHER. The FLASH Bulletin Board at the bottom of every newsletter is fantastic for many reasons. It can be an invaluable resource to anyone who is new in town because it connects you to all of the locals who are all experts in something. Our FLASHERS have hearts of gold and would love to help you with any needed referrals. Another purpose is to connect people of like-minds. For example, would you like to find people in our area from your hometown? Or maybe get together with other alumni from your college or your fraternity or sorority. A lot of larger cities have such alumni chapters and there's no reason we can't have them right here as well. (My husband and I both graduated from Mercer University in Macon, GA. Are there any other Mercer 'Bears'  out there?) Maybe you have a hobby or a sport that would be more enjoyable when shared with others.  How about a knitting group? Book Clubs are always fun and our beaches are great for a Beach Volleyball teams.  Frisbee 'Golf' is catching on nationally and I understand there are two courses in Ft. Pierce. Sorry, but our bulletin board is not a 'dating site.' If you're looking for your soul mate,  you'll have to try one of the many other sites on the internet for that purpose. However, if you want to join or start a group...This is the place to do it! You can also post for many other things. Do you need a referral? Have moving boxes that you've just unpacked? Have something you would like to give away? FLASH is your venue for Anything about Everything!  All FLASHERS can use our bulletin board at no expense. (Businesses..we have advertising opportunities for you.) Click here to put a post on the bulletin board or to ask us a question. Feel free to send me an email if you have a problem with the above link. verobeachflash@gmail.com.

Thank you~

"Screening can help doctors find and treat several types of cancer early.
Early detection is important because when abnormal tissue or cancer
is found early, it may be easier to treat. By the time symptoms appear,
cancer may have begun to spread and is harder to treat".

 CREATIVE DEVILED EGGS

Okay, you've got to do something with all those hard-boiled Easter eggs, right?

Here are a few different ideas to add to your basic yolk and mayo mix. You may want to make a few different kinds to fill a variety platter:

NOTE: For a 'fancy' finish, put yolk mixture into a plastic bag. Cut one small corner and squeeze mixture into the egg white.

ANOTHER REASON TO QUIT SMOKING

To Keep Teeth White, Don't Light Up

Not only is it bad for your health, smoking is one of the worst offenders when it comes to staining teeth. Tobacco causes brown stains that penetrate the grooves and pits of tooth enamel The stains can be hard to remove by brushing alone. The longer you smoke, the more entrenched the stains become. As we know, smoking increases the risk of most types of cancer, but it also causes bad breath and gingivitis (gum disease). So... Right now is the perfect time to quit. Need some help? WHAT GENERATION ARE YOU?

There are people from six generations alive today. The title Tom Brokaw's book gave the generation born before 1926 was The Greatest Generation. They went through World War II and still remember life without airplanes, radio and TV.

The other five are:
Mature/Silents 1927-1945
Baby Boomers 1946-1964
Generation X 1965-1980
Generation Y/ Millennials - a.k.a. 'The 9/11 Generation' 1981-2000
Generation Z/ Boomlets - Born after 2001

WEEKEND PROJECT

This is not a difficult project if you have the right tools and it is the perfect way to show off your springtime tulips. You can leave the wood in its natural state, stain it, or paint it. Click Here for detailed directions.

Here's an extra little tip for your tulips.  You know how they get leggie and continue to grow when place them in a vase?  Well, if you place a cap-full of bleach in the water that will prevent the tulips from growing.

TAX TIP

The deadline for filing your income tax return is  Aptil15th, - less than a week away. Here are two more deductions that are sometimes overlooked:

                                Medical Bills

For most taxpayers, the threshold for deducting medical expenses recently increased from 7.5 percent to 10 percent of adjusted gross income. However, if you are over the age of 65, you can still use the lower threshold of 7.5 percent. In addition, many taxpayers are unaware than medical expenses paid for another party are also deductible, as long as you can show that you paid the healthcare provider directly and that the other party is your dependent.

Casualty Losses

If you incur losses during the year because of theft or damage, you can usually deduct the related expenses from your taxable income. Examples of deductible expenses include money you paid to replace stolen furniture and expenses paid to repair storm damage. Ask a tax advisor if you have a loss you think may qualify.

WHAT A FUN WEBSITE!

Look what we found! Here is a website that will tell you what the number one song was on the day you were born. Just enter your birthdate and year. (It will also tell you how many minutes you have been alive. What a shocker that is!) This could be a fun one to save and send to a friend in lieu of a birthday card.

5 TIPS TO GIVE YOUR HANDS 'A HAND'

There are so many products on the market today that keep us looking our best and take a few years off of our appearance.  Don't forget your hands! Make sure your 'beauty care' pampers your hands as well. Here are five tips for keeping them looking younger.

1) Treat your hands like your face and apply sunscreen and seek shade.

2) Exfoliate with this home-made mixture that you can easily make. Mix equal

parts of olive oil and sugar and you will have a nice scrub.

3) Moisturize regularly

4) Wear light weight gloves when driving.

5) Keep your nails looking nice and clean with regular manicures.
