HAPPY THANKSGIVING, FLASHERS!
Many of you may open this newsletter today, but many may save the FLASH til finished with all of the cooking and/or visiting with friends and family. Since I'm at our farm in Georgia, I will be busy preparing a meal for ten people. Fortunately, I have a lot of help. My two daughters are here from Atlanta. But, my son Will is in Miami and could not get the time off. For the first time our family will not be together for a major holiday. That makes me SO sad! Will's absence leaves a HUGE hole! My Mom, my sister Suzy and niece are here and each is preparing their 'specialty' recipe. Even my husband Howell gets into the act making his famous 'cornbread stuffing'. A new guest at our table this year year is Victoria, my sister's delightful exchange student from Belgium. (I'm going to call her Will for the weekend...ha!) She is here for the school year at Indian River Charter High School with my niece Amanda and she has definitely become part of our family! Of course, they don't celebrate our American Thanksgiving in Belgium, so this is a new experience for her, along with feeding the cows and mules. She loves collecting the eggs too. That's right! Remember those chicks that I got from my husband as my 'Easter Surprise'?...Well, the 3 of them just started laying eggs this past month. We get 3 eggs a day! It was the most exciting moment the first time I found an egg in the nesting box! I always feel the urge to say a verbal thank you when I collect. Yes... I actually thank my chickens! ...How strange is that? But it always feels like a gift has been left for me when I go out and find an egg sitting there ... all by itself ... just waiting for me. It's quite fun and I look forward to my morning visit the the coop!
Of course, we will have the Macy's Parade on in the background while all of the prepping activities are going on in the morning. Later on in the day we'll undoubtedly be changing channels frequently to keep up with everyone's favorite college football game. You'll find the links for both the NCAA and the NFL schedules in a post below. Then before we call it a day we will all settle in the living room in front of a roaring fire (if it is cold enough) and play a game. It's one of those interactive games like 'Apples to Apples' and I am sure will provide quite a few laughs! There's nothing like family moments when you gather with those that are dearest to you. I hope that all our FLASHERS are getting to do just that. For anyone left alone, I feel like giving you Will's number. He's a fabulous cook and so much fun to have around! Happy Thanksgiving, William and all our FLASHERS!!
The Day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season and over 135 million people are expected to be out shopping this weekend. If you don't want to brave the crowds in the big stores, remember Small Business Saturday. These retailers are the backbone of our community and having been in retail myself I can honestly say that it is a wonderful feeling when your community supports your efforts and business! So...Shop Small Business and Shop Local! If you don't finish your shopping this weekend, you can still shop for bargains online on Cyber Monday which is expected to generate $3 billion in sales on this one day. Wow! Enjoy your holiday, Flashers!
Thank you~

If you're planning on letting your fingers do the shopping on Cyber Monday, here are five tips from PCWorld to keep you safe:
Don't Click E-Mail Links You Don't Recognize
Following links from phony e-mail is one of the oldest methods for perpetrating any online scam.
Only Shop at Sites You Know
Don't be lured by ridiculously deep discounts that may be scams to gain your credit card information.
Secure Your Purchase
To make sure you're on a secure page, check to see that the URL for the page begins with "https://" and not "http://." That "s" lets you know the site is secure.
Pay With Credit Cards Only
Pay for online purchases with a credit card as opposed to a wire transfer or other non-plastic payment method. Federal laws let you dispute an item on your credit card bill if you don't receive your purchase.
Tune Up Your Software
As with any guide to online security, make sure that your operating system and antivirus software are up to date with the latest security patches and other updates.

WEEKEND PROJECT
Nothing! You'll probably be too busy with family and friends, and shopping, and watching football, and hopefully, working in a nap, to take on a project this weekend! |
TODAY'S CHUCKLE
BLACK FRIDAY TIP FOR HUSBANDS
This is how to find your wife, even in the busiest shopping mall. Follow these four point instructions, the technique never fails.
- Have a look around at the shoppers, then walk up to the prettiest girl in the store.
- Say to her, 'Excuse me, can you help me? I can't find my wife, and I know that she's here in the shopping mall somewhere. Can you just talk to me for a couple of minutes?'
- The pretty girl will ask: 'Why?'
- You reply: 'Because every time I talk to a beautiful woman, my wife materializes out of thin air.'

FLASH TIP OF THE WEEK
PROJECTED 'HOTTEST' TOYS & ELECTRONICS THIS YEAR!
Earlier this month, USA TODAY ran an article taken from ADOBE research on what are expected to be the hot toys and electronics consumers will be shopping for this holiday season. The hottest toys this year are going to be the remote control BB-8 droid from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Barbie, American Girl dolls, Lego, Hot Wheels, the remote controlled R2-D2 toy, Razor scooters, and (again this year) toys based on Disney's Frozen. If your child has his or her heart set on any of these, buying early would be wise. In electronics, it's not surprising that Apple is expected to lead the sales in wearable gadgets (Apple Watch), online video streaming (Apple TV) and tablets (iPad).

FLASH VIDEO OF THE WEEK To get you in the mood for today's games! The Last Moments of the
This is arguably the most exciting last moments of any Thanksgiving weekend game in history. Tied 28/28, the Crimson Tide misses a field goal and Auburn's Chris Davis catches the ball in the end zone and runs 109 yards to score the winning touchdown in the final play of the game! To watch, Click here.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK
LEFT-OVER TURKEY SHEPHERD'S PIE
(with mashed potato or sweet potato topping)
A friend gave me this recipe recently and I can hardly wait 'til the day after Thanksgiving to try it! She said you can top it with stuffing if you prefer. I'm going to make sure we have lots of leftovers!
Vegetable oil 1 cup assorted chopped vegetables leftover from crudités plate and leftover green beans or green bean casserole, or use frozen mixed vegetables, 2 cups turkey, pulled or chopped 1 cup gravy (Short of gravy? Use Cream of Chicken or Mushroom soup) 1 cup turkey or chicken stock 1 1/2 - 2 cups mashed potatoes or mashed sweet potatoes or mix the two
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350F.
Pour gravy and stock in a saucepot over medium-high heat until it comes to a bubble.
Over medium-high heat sauté vegetables in oil until softened, about 3-5 minutes.
Turn off heat and add turkey and gravy mixture to the vegetables and toss to coat.
Pour pie filling in a casserole and top with potatoes.
Bake 20-25 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
