GET YOUR IRISH ON!
Sure and begorrah, 'tis a grand day to be alive! The above phrase is Irish slang and means "sure and by God." It's just our way of letting you know that St. Patrick's Day is this coming Monday. It doesn't seem to matter what our ethnic background is, on March 17th we all wear green and become Irish for a day. St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and his fascinating biography would make a great movie. You can read about him in a post below. However, before we get to lucky St. Patrick's Day on Monday, we must first get through "the Ides of March" on Saturday. This day has a superstitious reputation 'to be careful' because of the soothsayers' warning to Julius Caesar to "Beware the Ides (Latin for 15th) of March." This is the date Caesar was assassinated by Brutus. Woooh....spooky! We much prefer the luck of the Irish and hope you will enjoy the legends and tips in this issue as we wish you this well known Irish blessing:
May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rain fall soft upon your fields, And, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Happy Thursday!

Make sure you drink responsibly!
It should come as no surprise that St. Patrick's Day is one of the biggest days of year for recreational drinking. Often that takes place at a 'pub' which means you might find yourself faced with the dilemma of how to get home. Don't rely on pure 'luck' to get you home! No matter what...DO NOT get behind the wheel! AAA and Budweiser have paired up and offer a Tow to Go service. This service is confidential and offers a ride within a 10 mile radius to a safe location. It is free and available to both AAA members and non members. The AAA tow truck takes the vehicle and the driver home. Please share this site with anyone that you think might be in need of this service. The service will be available from March 14th until 6:00a.m. on the 18th. The number to call for service is (855) 286-9246. Stay safe FLASHERS!

WHO WAS ST. PATRICK?
The real St. Patrick wasn't even Irish. He was born in Britain around A.D. 390 to an aristocratic Christian family. Patrick showed no interest in Christianity as a young boy, but at 16, he was kidnapped and sent overseas to tend sheep as a slave in the mountainous countryside of Ireland for seven years. While he was there, he had a religious conversion and became a very devout Christian. According to folklore, a voice came to Patrick in his dreams, telling him to escape. He found passage on a pirate ship back to Britain, where he was reunited with his family, but the voice then told him to return to Ireland. After he was ordained as a priest, he did go back and spent the rest of his life trying to convert the Irish to Christianity. His work wasn't easy. He was constantly beaten by thugs, harassed by the Irish royalty, and admonished by his British superiors. He died on March 17, 461. Mythology began to grow around Patrick, and centuries after his death he was honored as the Patron Saint of Ireland.

DID YOU KNOW?
THE MEANING BEHIND IRISH SYMBOLS & LEGENDS
The Color Green...Ireland is known as "The Emerald Isle" because of its brilliant and lush green landscape.
The Shamrock......Presumably, St. Patrick used the three leaves of a shamrock to explain the concept of the Christian holy trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Leprechaun...According to legend, this tiny creature is a devious Irish 'faery,' (one of the "wee folk") who has a hidden "Pot of Gold". If you catch one, he must turn his treasure over to you, but be careful. He may use his magic powers to turn you into a frog!
Pot o' Gold at the End of the Rainbow...A bit of science , - *Since the rainbow is an arc, it is the only part of a circle as reflected by the sun that we can see. As far back as the 17th century, the Irish understood this. Since a circle has no end, they were fond of saying that one was as likely to find a pot of gold as to find the end of a rainbow. It became part of fairy mythology, and a good place for a leprechaun to hide his treasure!
Lucky Four Leaf Clover...Four leaf shamrocks are rare, so if you find one you are "lucky." The more modern interpretation of St. Patrick's leaves is Faith, Hope, and Love, with the fourth leaf symbolizing Luck.
Kiss The Blarney Stone...According to tradition, if you kiss the Blarney Stone (a block of bluestone in the battlements of Blarney Castle in Ireland), you receive the gift of eloquence and cleverness of speech.
*NOTE TO PARENTS - The source for our shortened description of a rainbow is a website for kids that answers a lot of "why" questions about weather that you might want to save. Click here.

REMEBER EVERYTHING
EVERNOTE is an app that's been around about 5 years. It's an app for your Smartphone, tablet, and/or computer that promises to make your life more manageable. Couldn't we all use that!
The app is roughly organized into notebooks and notes. Just like in real life, you create a notebook for a particular subject/topic, then fill that notebook with notes. Besides syncing across devices and operating systems, there are some features that make Evernote really stand out:
- The ability to share notes and whole notebooks with classmates, coworkers, family, etc.
- The ability to take and attach pictures to a note right from within the app.
- The ability to take and attach voice memos and audio to a note right from within the app.
- The ability to attach files (spreadsheets, images, docs) to any note.
- The ability to scan text in a photo using Optical Character Recognition technology.
- The ability to set reminders for yourself for various tasks, goals, and projects from within the app.
- The ability to create checkboxes that serve as virtual to-dos.
- The ability to sync automatically between all devices, meaning you can access your notes even when offline. (This feature is somewhat limited in the free version.)
- Best of all - it's FREE! There's a premium version that offers a few bonus features, but the freebie may be all you need.

Borrowing from the design principles of Asian folding screens, Kennington painted both sides of each screen as complementary halves of a single idea.
