APRIL FOOL'S DAY IS TUESDAY!

It's hard to believe that April arrives next week and we thought we should remind you so you won't find yourself the victim of some practical joke. April Fool's day hoaxes are nothing new and some of the older ones are the best. Way back in 1835, the New York Sun published a long article by famous British astronomer Sir John Herschel where Herschel announced he had discovered life on the moon. Herschel, much to his chagrin, found out later that such discoveries were attributed to him. In today's world, that would probably cause a lawsuit! Most April Fool's pranks are harmless and can be fun,...especially if you're the perpetrator! If you need ideas you can pull on your own friends and family, Here are a few:

1) How to prank your children or spouse: Get a bunch of their underwear, and sew all of them together by running each through once with the needle. No need for knots. You might want to double or triple the thread so it isn't easily broken. Make sure you leave a nice amount of extra thread between each pair so that they actually pull them out and don't take out an entire stack immediately by lifting one pair.

2)  You'll need some butter, a plate, some salt, and a bunch of napkins! Tell your poor victim that you saw on the Discovery Channel that butter gets hot when you put salt on it. Put some butter on a plate and put salt on it. Wait a minute and place your hand over the butter and pretend you feel the heat. Tell them to put their hand over it, and ask them if they can feel the heat. Then... SLAM!!! April Fools! Swiftly, slam your hand on top of their's so their hand gets squished in the butter.

3) Open up all the boxes of cereal and switch the bags so they are no longer in the right box. Surprise!

4) When they aren't looking, change the default language on your child's, spouse's, or friend's phone, they won't know what happened! You can do this on the computer too.

5) If you can find a way in, fill a car full of balloons before the person can get to it in the morning. They won't believe their eyes

6) Probably the oldest two tricks in the book. Vaseline on doorknobs continues to be an April Fools' classic and placing a rubber band around the kitchen sink sprayer. This will keep it in the 'on' position for the next person who turns on the faucet for a little April Fools Day splash!

 ROCKY THE MUSICAL

Recently in FLASH we told you the story of Sylvester Stallone's fight and determination to get to play the lead in the movie ROCKY which he had authored. We did not know at that time that ROCKY has been made into a Broadway musical. That's right...a musical! It does seem a strange plot for a musical, but if you remember the inspiring theme music from the movie, you can see how it would be possible. The Broadway version, which Stallone co-wrote, opened last week at the Winter Garden theater in New York.  Theater goers who had purchased what the producers are calling  "Golden Tickets" will be escorted from their seats to view the final 20 minutes of the performance from the stage, presumably to represent the audience at a boxing match. Those Golden Tickets are costing $193.00 a seat and are already sold out for many weeks to come! To hear Comments by Stallone and watch scenes from the show, Click here

                           HEALTH TIP

TAKE A WALK ON APRIL 2nd!

                                  NATIONAL WALKING DAY

The American Heart Association has designated next Wednesday as National Walking Day. Did you know that walking has the lowest dropout rate of any type of exercise? That's probably because walking is easy and safe and doesn't require any equipment. It's also not boring because you can vary your route every day. Studies show that for every hour of walking, life expectancy may increase by two  hours and it's the single most effective form of exercise to achieve heart health. So, why wait 'til Wednesday? Start today and make it a habit to walk at least 30 minutes a day!

DOWNTON ABBEY SYNOPSIS

We're not sure how many of you guys are watching DOWNTON ABBEY, but we know a lot of you ladies are. It seems you can't attend a "girls' night out" without the PBS TV show on Sunday nights coming into conversation. If, like some of our FLASH staffers, you didn't get in on the beginning, you can still catch up with Season 4 without watching the full videos from the past 3 seasons. Here is a website that gives you a synopsis of the overall plot and an individual description and history of each character.   TODAY'S CHUCKLE

Two brothers, Bob and Tom, were interviewing for the same job. Both seemed qualified and the employer decided he would have to give them a written test to decide which one to hire.  After checking the results, he announced that he had decided to give the job to Bob.

"But why him," Tom asked?

"Because,"  the employer answered," The last question was the only one you answered different from your brother. He wrote,  'I don't know.' and you wrote, 'I don't either!'

  DID YOU KNOW?

Starbucks Chair, Howard Schultz, recently made a gift of $30 million dollars to help troops acclimate once they are back home. This is the explanation he gave. "I say this with respect, more often than not, the government does a very - a much better job of sending people to war than they do bringing them home." What does that mean for FLASHERS? The $4+ dollars you spend on coffee is going to a great cause! Your Starbucks addiction can now be validated! :)
