Indian River Medical Center will host its 25th Thanksgiving Dinner for senior citizens and others unable to share a holiday meal with their families. A traditional Thanksgiving turkey-and-trimmings meal will be served between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, in the hospital's cafeteria. The menu includes roast turkey with giblet gravy and corn bread stuffing, or baked ham with ginger mustard glaze. There is a choice of two sides: mashed potatoes or praline sweet potatoes, and seasoned green beans or buttered zucchini. Served with a tossed salad, holiday dessert, roll and butter, and coffee or choice of fountain drink. The cost is $7.95 plus tax. No reservations are needed. The Vero Beach High School Performing Arts department presents All Shook Up on Saturday, November 23 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, November 24 at 2 pm in the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center, 1707 16th Street. The songs of Elvis Presley form the backdrop for this musical about a mysterious, leather-jacketed stranger who shakes up a small mid-western town in the 1950s. Featuring hits such as Jailhouse Rock, Love Me Tender, Blue Suede Shoes, Don't Be Cruel, Teddy Bear and Hound Dog, this performance includes over 50 VBHS students under the direction of Dee Rose Imbro and is approximately 2 hours in length including an intermission. Choreography is by Adam Schnell and musical direction by Karen Wiggins.
Dyer Chevrolet and Dyer Mazda Subaru are pleased to announce the 66th recipient of the Dyer Difference Award: The Indian River County Firefighter's Association. This award salutes a non-profit organization in Indian River County that makes a difference in our community. Dyer Chevrolet and Dyer Mazda Subaru presented the Dyer Difference Award along with a $3000.00 check the November recipient, Indian River County Firefighter's Association to help them promote their Firefighters Fair being held March 14-23th. This event is their signature annual fundraiser. Early on the morning of Nov. 16, Indian River Habitat for Humanity sponsors, volunteers, staff, family and friends gathered at Grace Meadows, Habitat's Fellsmere neighborhood, to share a special event. New homebuyers Ebony Williams, her daughter, Zanari Wynn, and son Jarez Parks, were celebrating the hammer passing and wallraising of their Habitat home. Williams has attended Habitat's required homebuyer courses and put in many Sweat Equity hours on others' homes. Now she'll be working on her very own home. The Sea Oaks Community is the Primary, Volunteer and Business Sponsor of the Williams home.
