Hello FLASHERS!

June is bustin' out all over!
Those words were made famous by the 1956 musical Carousel. Click the image below to see the song come to life in that great show!

JUNE...Wow!  Who would have thought we would have made it through the first half of 2013 so quickly? Most of the area schools will begin their summer break within the next few days and some are already out! Don't you remember the thrill of that last day of school? It paralleled the excitement of Christmas Eve...That type of excitement that is reserved and lavished upon children with all of their innocence, childish giggles and smiles! I live vicariously through each and every one of them and enjoy my own personal memories of that particularly special day ... as well as the many 'last days of school' I experienced as a mother of three wonderful children! All of those children grow up and as they do, many experience June in a different way. Yes, June is the month for weddings! It also marks: D-Day, (June 6th-Today), Flag  Day (June14th), Father's Day, (June 16th) and Children's Day, (June 9th).  Say what?  Yes, there is a Children's Day and it predates both Mother's Day and Father's Day and was established back in the 1860's. Oh the things you learn in FLASH! ...There are many exciting, fun and helpful posts this week that  I hope all of our FLASHERS will enjoy!  Remember...Today is a great day to share FLASH with a friend!  I do love our FLASHERS who don't keep us a secret!  So, spread the good news and 'Bust Out' FLASH to all of your friends!  You can do so quite easily by clicking this button. Surely you can think of one person to share us with!
HAPPY JUNE FLASHERS! ENJOY YOURSELF TODAY AND EVERY DAY!

WATCH THIS GREAT VIDEO OF THE
PROGRESSION OF WWII
D-Day - June 6, 1944
Sixty-nine years ago today, 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. General Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which "we will accept nothing less than full victory." More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by day's end on June 6, the Allies gained a foothold in Normandy. The D-Day cost was high -more than 9,000 Allied Soldiers were killed or wounded -- but more than 100,000 Soldiers began the march across Europe to defeat Hitler. Click on the Map above to see a virtual progression of WWII. It identifies the different military branches' efforts with moving icons. It's a fascinating video and one that all WWII buffs will enjoy viewing. (excerpt from Army.Mil Features)

water pinataWATER PINATAS

This Water Balloon pinata is a fun way to cool off on a hot summer day.  The kids love this and it gets them up and moving.  Just be sure to only use a plastic bat! Click here for directions. Use regular latex balloons instead of water balloons and instead of tying them onto one string, you can tie them individually around the yard. Another idea is to have this at the beginning of an event with 'relay fun'! You can place a team number inside the balloon. (Waterproof it by sealing it between clear strapping tape) This seems a fair and fun way to select teams and a way to make sure each child only pops one balloon. Once teams are selected...Let the games begin! Need suggestions:  Egg on a spoon relay, 3-legged race, water balloon toss,  ... Click Here for more ideas.

 Benefits and Costs of Massage

Massage is generally considered part of complementary and alternative medicine. It's  increasingly being offered along with standard treatment for a wide range of medical conditions and situations.  Studies of the benefits of massage demonstrate that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension. Some studies have found massage may also be helpful for:

* Anxiety

* Digestive disorders

* Fibromyalgia
* Headaches
* Insomnia related to stress
* Myofascial pain syndrome
* Paresthesias and nerve pain
* Soft tissue strains or injuries
 * Sports injuries
* Temporomandibular joint pain

The average cost of a massage is $1 per minute. If there are add-ons included such as deep tissue work, hot stones, aromatherapy or reiki the price will be higher. We have a summer special that includes a 60 minute massage. Call us and schedule your mini vacation! (772) 589-8111.

A SUMMER CENTERPIECE
TO WOW YOUR GUESTS

Do you have a summer soirée or reunion planned? Why not add a major punch to your delectable table fare with this amazing fruit display!
Instructions
    • 1. Take your knife and cut the top and the bottom off each pineapple, leaving a flat surface on each end. Discard the ends. Leave one pineapple with the top attached. Secure fronds in the top of the pineapple.
    • 2. Cut the cores of the pineapples out of the skin, leaving 1 inch of pineapple pulp intact. Be careful not to mash the pineapple, especially if you will be using the meat for decorative purposes. Set the pineapple meat aside.
    • 3. Drive the first skewer half way into the top of a pineapple, proceed with two more skewers placing them 1 inch apart for a total of three. Take the next pineapple and place it on top of the skewer and drive it down until the pineapples are directly on top of each other. Repeat with the last pineapple.
    • 4. Place the hollowed out pineapples on the center of the serving tray.
    •  5. Support the pineapple palm tree on the serving tray by adding food to the serving tray. Keep more solid foods up against the pineapple tree and the lighter foods around the edges. Add the leftover cubed pineapple to the serving tray.

WORK IN A PAIR

When you answer to no one but yourself, it can become a habit to cancel a workout after a long, busy day because you feel tired. You may think that canceling one workout won't hurt you, but if you cancel even one session, it can be more difficult to get back into the habit. If your workout partner is counting on you to be there for an exercise session, you'll be less likely to cancel. Take advantage of our studio plus pass and buy a pass for yourself and one for your workout buddy for the price of one pass!

HERE COME THE BRIDES!

June  began this week and it's known as the month for weddings. So, you 'Fathers of the Brides' out there better closely watch your bank accounts! According to the wedding website THE KNOT, the average cost of a wedding is now $28,424 with the average wedding gown costing $1,211! If you're planning a wedding, here are some cost cutting suggestions that might help.

Flowering rose bushes (or gardenias, hibiscus, etc.) in white painted containers or baskets make a beautiful floral background for the nuptials, and a pretty garden later for the bride and groom. Potted flowering plants (orchid, violets, etc.) in baskets work well for reception tables.

For the bridesmaids, a single rose with ribbon streamers is just as effective as an elaborate bouquet. Sunflowers with yellow streamers work well too for a more casual effect.

David's Bridals is carrying a line of Vera Wang wedding gowns starting at $249. J.Crew and Urban Outfitters offer gowns under $400 and even Target has begun a line starting as low as $99! We applaud these stores and offer this suggestion for Dad: Write a check as generous as you can afford to the Bride to cover all the wedding and reception costs, but tell her the happy couple can keep whatever is left for themselves. You will be amazed at how practical the bride will become! (We've seen this work!)

The Groom and Groomsmen may find it more economical to buy matching suits (that can be worn later) rather than rent tuxedos.

For music, a trio with a piano or keyboard, a base and drums will create enough music for dancing at most receptions and you might find this  combination among talented college students  for a few hundred dollars.

Filmed across the US, Europe, Australia, and Asia, this documentary examines the alarming disappearance of honeybees and the greater meaning it holds about the relationship between mankind and Mother Earth.
